But it was precisely the large influx of gold and silver from the Spanish treasure fleet from the New World that created this (temporary) inflation in the first place.

The same exact thing is happening right now, print money out of thin air (US Federal Reserve, European Central Bank, to name a few) and you get inflation, AUTOMATICALLY, get it?

I think you skipped some history classes while in high school, my friend, or you are one of them and it's your problem.

Temporary for many centuries
Probably those centuries should be excluded from the period when "inflation was at almost zero"

Oh it is really funny to hear about history from person who refers to CNN and knows nothing about dynamic of buying power of Roman denarius.

The levels I'm watching on monday. Currently double-top on daily chart so expecting a drop towards 1220 area at the bottom of the channel.
Charts: XAUUSD/UJ/EU. Tools: stoch/daily pivots/fibo/channels. Scalper.
