I am starting to like the xau pair a lot. If you are consistently successful trading it, I am wondering what your risk profile and leverage look like. Also, it would be great if you could discuss the time frame that you trade - just to put the rest in perspective.

Thanks,

Best.

Hello dunningduke

In my experience, gold only has decent volatility 1400 - 1900 EST, but this is based on the futures. Spot, I'm not sure why you would prefer gold or silver over the major FX pairs, because the spread is just awful. Why do you like it?

Cheers,

dsl

so far, it's been very small, rapid and predictable trading moves that translate into nice profits. the moves make up for the 60 pip spread. I've only taken xau trades with tiny amounts of capital...still working on developing it. I appreciate your input, dsl.

best.

no real technique, really. Like I mentioned before, it puts explosive little moves, which I catch watching momentum and paying attention to price action. So far, I haven't put a lot of money into trading it, as I am still figuring out how it works.

I don't use the momentum indicator. with xau, I have been looking at 15 min and 30 min charts, as it's not trending like it used to. It seems to be playing around, going up here and chipping down there... little three, four, or five consecutive candle moves.

I have the MADC, RSI, and two short term ema on the chart, but I don't really pay attention to them...just look at slope changes for confirmation. funny enough, it's been working.

I wish you the best.

the longer time frame charts seem to suggest topping action as 595 has held a few attempts up.

Would like to hear a veteran's analysis, seems to me that XAU's having a hard time breaking 595 and with signs of global slow downs (US & EU) seems like golds getting ready for a drop
