Sir, If I speak about US equities, its the elections year and seeing the history, majority of the time market yielded positive returns except in 2008-09 elections when recession had hit the market. I expect the earnings to play an important role this time around as they will drive the equities trend and seeing the market expectations, I expect the earnings to be good. I dont see the Chinese picking up in the first half of 2016. Being the largest importer of gold, the slower demand will hit gold. and how can we forget the rate hike??

All those guesses and expectations.. I guess that's not for me. I want to see a chart to know what is happening right now, and I still don't see your scenario supported. Let's see if that changes in the coming weeks/months

Im sensing a buy in XAU with a break out at 1115.00

Strangely this should have kicked in as a safe haven before.

So people may have been burnt buying it and now left it alone but its creeping up again and this could mean a surprise move

I'm basically agreeing with you, still this market is so slow for so long now, the first couple of breakout buys, depending on your holding period, may just as well fail. But the more that are triggered without new weekly lows, would be in favor of a trend chagne. A big ass divergence is present already, an occurring breakout would also second the scenario. Let's wait and see what price will do and simply trade it with a plan.

Hello to all,i just started trading Gold and i had a nice long trade yesterday @ 1099...to 1112.00 closed out at that price
not used to gold and the levels yet but hope to go with it.. good luck you golders...

Well done sir, Even i have put for a short term trade like this, but in longer view i expect gold prices to touch the levels of $1050. it is playing with safe bids as there is rout in global equities. but dont find much concerns for so much of fall, its been a worst year to start with all global indexes. China gets to hit its circut twice. DAX falling over 20% is making things miserable. I think the downfall is about to get over, there is a sharp rebound about to come and gold will loose all this bulls. i hope to make some money from my position of selling gold at $1099.
Whats your view??

I am agreeing with your views ta great extent. The markets have fallen all due to the panic selling created due to China and slide in oil prices. DAX and S&P have slid by more than 10% in this very month. The fundamentals of each market has not played its role till yet and with the markets forming its base, I believe that rebound will happen soon.
In this great market drama, gold did not really act as a pure safe haven asset. Although the bulls made it rally above 1100 level, in my view gold will consolidate in this range while the markets will start claiming their previous gains.

Technically speaking gold has breached the level of $1150 recently and next level i am watching for is at $1180, i cant see much conclusions around that had created so much of havoc in the equity market. But i feel more of the downfall impacting Asian markets is yet to come. This india and china downfall will for sure impact the demand for gold. Boom in gold hand is not in much of good hands but for short term it might touch 1180.

The breakout at $1114 was mentioned and Gold is now trading at almost $1200. Last week was volatile regarding bull action, Monday of this week continued to follow the same path. Let's see where we're headed. Have a plan, trade your plan.

Gold is definitely a buy at this moment. As far as gold is cincerned the prices are buoyed by the equities rout. As long as the financial markets are unstable and under volatility, the gold is bound to rise. The demand from China too due to the Lunar New Year has supported the prices. the immediate support can be seen at $1180 while immediate resistance is seen at $1200 and next level to look out would be $1210.

The rout in all over the world markets have made the bullion a safe haven bid, there is too much of negitivity in the market. Bulls are much stronger for the yellow metal than the grey. I am expecting a big rebound soon in S&P and DAX as they are at thier crutial levels. As soon as the recovery comes gold is going to be very much under pressure. I am experting the major resistance for gold will be at 1217 and it will hit the targets of $1050 as soon equity starts recovering.
i am expecting the fall to sustain till the month of Feburuary.

The fall could be attributed to a rebound in equities in Wall Street and USD along with selling from China after the Lunar New Year holidays. A rebound in the US markets after an upbeat data buoyed the USD as well which weighed down on the precious metal’s safe haven appeal. I feel that the stability in the equities market will further slash the safe haven appeal of the yellow metal and would further lead to correction. The assets of SPDR Gold Trust, the top gold-backed exchange-traded fund, fell 0.71 percent to 710.95 tons on Friday proves that the trader takes no time in shifting to the equities as soon as they rebound. Technically, the immediate support can be seen at $1200 while resistance is seen at $1235.

Goldman is advising investors to take a short position on gold as they see the price spike as a "market overreaction" and will normalize over the next month. I currently have no personal position on gold at this time, just sharing.

I feel that the rise in global equities has weighed on the precious metal prices as the investor appetite for risk aversion asset has diminished. The somewhat calmness in the global stock markets ruled over the investor’s sentiments although the metal is the best performing asset this year by still maintaining 13% returns. Strenght in USD also dented the gold. I will now be looking forward to the minutes of the FED’s January meeting which would be released later today to measure the bank’s view of the economy and prospects of next rate hike this year.

Lets c.... I am fully bearish on gold currently!
