I enjoy looking at all the fancy charts provided on this thread. I think sometimes we need to keep things simple and uncomplicate things. My view, and its a view that has been wrong before, is that we will see a short-term sell off in gold next week. I am very bearish gold in the near term,
and sadly, do not have a fancy chart to show, but that is the way I view things.
It's a big game.

Been trying to get long silver for weeks now. Upside potential is > than downside imo. Will try more longs off 16.00 next week.

Agree here, I also think the upside potential is greater for the coming months given the turmoil in Europe & the blatant & obvious falseness of the recovery in the States. Looks like all the US indices are just grinding along at present allowing the bigger players sell at high prices before the market comes off & the retail crowd get slam dunked (though QE4 could change this). This is why I like XAG in the long term (what currency would you want to be long?) & around the 16 area is a decent place to get in imo. But who knows; have to try for some short term swinging trades too so also in at present to 16.60 & potentially 17.20.

I'm just long against usd... for reasons you've already mentioned.
Also i like this triangle on the weekly. Looking to play the long game and scale in all the way up to 18 and hold.
Your swing ideas look good..

My opinion (sorry if it "rains on anyone's parade") is as it has been for awhile now (4 years lol) that the long term lows in Gold still have yet to be made.

If anyone doubts that I have had this opinion this long - it is all here in this topic since Feb '11. And note I've outlasted just about everyone including the OP which might tell you something - well besides that I don't ever shy away from giving an opinion good or bad.

From my view as longtherm investor mostly physical! In both XAG / XAU.
USD is another thing than EUR - when you look at an XAU/EUR chart you´ll see that it isn´t far away from the ATH and we don´t need a higher high on the USD to see a new high in EUR.

Ratio is relativ high - when you compare ratio highs / lows with a price chart youll see the correlation.
Really i would LOVE to see a true fast drop in silver at 10$ or 13€ an ounce, Gold at 800€ an ounce i have several thousends of euros just for this event!

and for the paper trades technicals long as short... ofc

well if you look at 200 day SMA, price just got resisted by the SMA, I guess another short term (or long term) down is coming

Could be. Have to take your word. I almost never look at MA's.

But when I do I look at practical ones (for me anyway) such as daily 21 (= month) weekly 13 (= quarterly), monthly 12 (= yearly) and only in relation to trend and NEVER whether price turns at it or not. It is a line and nothing more. If price turns near it, it is purely coincidental.

This is sideways (coiling) at best, at least thats how it looks on the higher time frames.

This is a pretty horrible product to trade now, its slow, grindy and vol is very low. Well I suppose the CTAs have given up on commodities...

Today it is a battle between Silver Bulls and Gold Bears.

Silver made a new daily high right after gold made a new daily low.

Silver moves for awhile have been dictated by what equities are doing. Futures are up so Silver is up.

But IMO it is only a matter of time before it will resume downtrend if gold keeps pushing down like I expect.
