If the price were to have moved recently any where close to the way it does when it falls on nothing, no techs no fundies,

Say 75 + USD

I would certainly say someone beefing up the price or "manipulation"

There is a general saying that price falls further and quicker than it rises. I assume this is based on fear, so as the selling begins all panic ensues and major sell off..
Buying is a thoughtful process.

Perhaps Comm. traders are waiting for the US speakers?

Yes, jay I am well aware of it and it goes as such
"it's always the Stairs UP and the ELEVATOR down"

This is especially true in a usually respectful support and resistance and especially FEAR driven market such as gold.

My only point here is that more often than not large moves with no explicable backing reason either technical or fundamental are FAR blown out of control to
just be mere "elevator down days" and the recent if any meager at best gains gold has pared and continually lost lately are quite pathetic for what is going on fundamentally.

Take a look at April 15th (I think 15th) of 2013 or just the down move that occurred then.

I'll have to pull the chart to further articulate this. Unless you have it/

Who agrees with what, exactly? With the exception of the content of your own hyperbolic comments you are both complaining about non-existent posts. As far as fundies saying one thing and price doing another - that has been happening in every market for every year I have traded since 1996 and of course long before I traded. Not every time naturally but most of the time. Markets move by fooling the most. Don't you know that?

Note: there were two earlier instances today when the manipulation word was thrown around before someone made reference to them and then I agreed.

I will make a point due to the talk of manipulation ....Why was there ever a thing introduced to the market called paper Gold? ....... Regardless of direction. Was it introduced for opportunity or was it introduced for control of the physical ?

If you had taken the time to read and actually LISTEN to what I was articulating you would realize I was referring to a CHANNEL WITH AN ORIGIN IN 2008
IT WAS NOT until well after 2011/12 that the channel GOT BLOWN OUT topside resulting in a high of nearly 2000.

Beeb and I were discussing the rate of acceleration at this point and NOTED IN THIS THREAD saying that if this PARABOLIC move continues to blow out the channel then we are GOING To crash hard.

We did - it's all here and cannot be edited.
Manipulation and Speculation by large caps were NOTED.

Not to mention if I remember correctly the origin base price area at the INCEPTION of this thread was the LOW 1100s,
since that time and all the posts accrued we have gone NORTH to 1920 and south to 1180.

Deduct a 20 off the top and add one to the bottom cause the wicks were the highs and lows and we get

1900 to 1200 = 700 USD range.


Split that in half and we have 350.

Simple way as I see to approximate if the price is average, low or high,

Take the 1200 + 350 and we get 1550 which I remain by and have been mentioning.
Likewise for the bears take the 1900 - 350 and we get 1550

I am more of a position trader as you fellas likely know, yet when the market moves sideways for too long I am not opposed to scalping for 10 or 20 USD moves.

I found that dark day which i remember as i had a long position.
11th April 2013
2400 pips in 2 days, biggest i have seen and thats beyond eurnzd circa 2007 where 500-1000 pips was a daily norm

i know you totally get the lift, elevator theory. But how about floor and ceiling principle where price is breaking through floors and unless there is a strong support price will continue to eat through floors / levels. i guess the subject about market makers is at question, who was responsible for holding the gold price up, if no one is as is true for a free market then in a given scenario all believe that the price will fall simply stand aside and wait until big players step in to begin applying brakes. Am i onto something? you and kadc have a much better understanding about the markets than the rest of us combined so what do you think

Just last week I demonstrated a clear example of how retail traders can profit by properly identifying an instance of manipulation. If you want to ignore the same situation should it arise again as predicted just before the middle of this coming December that's your loss.

You need to accept that discussing fundamentals in this thread, including manipulation, is going to continue as long as they affect the trading of gold and silver. Regardless of who you (or anyone) are posting to you are posting publicly so please try to be constructive when contributing. Also, undirected backhand comments to the thread in general are just as unacceptable as directed attacks.
You can always make money tomorrow provided you don't lose it today.

i don't know how things will turn out.

i am going to sit out this storm

(at the back of my mind it still haunts me that USD is very diluted by QEs , the US lawmakers are postponing hard decisons , etc , ... all giving shine to 'relatively safe heaven' status to gold ... and at the same time this spike could be just a knee jerk reaction to the pent-up expectation to the conclusion to shutdown deliberation)
