Take a look at the post linked from the OP which explains that strictly speaking a fork runs from a swing low to the next swing high and the next swing low for an ascending fork and vice-versa for a descending fork. There is always room for "artistic licence" but the further you move away from the basic principle the more you are approaching a set of action/reaction lines.....
FWIW I never short an upfork and never go long on a downfork - I trade with the direction of the fork in the timescale...Ignored
