DislikedEvening everyone hope all is making green (money that is) If i can look stupid and ask a question please .Doing some research on the stochastic indicator and it's about the settings I've been messing about with it last couple of weeks ,we have 3 settings on it default settings are 14,3,3 pretty sure, the first one 14 is the amount of periods you want to check ,14 would be last 14 candles say, the next 3 is the simpler moving average also the trigger or signal line correct ? the last setting 3 I'm finding difficulty with any input is appreciated...Ignored

Disliked{quote} It is so called a fully customizable version of the Slow Stochastic Oscillator. In MT4 you can choose 3 basic values: %K - number of the look-back calculation periods, %D - the number of the periods for moving average which calculates moving average from %K, slowing number - which is simpe moving average of %K. It just smoothes the %K values. For example, if slowing number is 1 it just means it calculates %K by formula. And it is called fast stochastics. If you put slowing number 2 it just means that it calculates %K values by formula and...Ignored

Disliked{quote} Hey brother I was going to comment earlier but wanted to make sure not to confuse you even more lol I believe H and Bigijs are right, but the way I've been made to understand is the last number is an added smoothing factor and helps to filter out the noise that the signal would produce. If the last number is 1, signal will react quickly with price fluctuations, the larger the last number is the larger the said price fluctuation would have to be to produce a large movement in stoch. Hope this makes sense. Below I just twaeked it to show you,...Ignored
Disliked{quote} Bigijs thanks mate for explanation just to clarify for talking sake settings are 14,3,3,... 14 is look back period %K, 3 is %D look back period for moving average between %K and %D and last 3 is simple number to just smooth out %K If your settings were say 64,23,5,.... then....look back period %K is 64...,23%D is the difference of periods of moving average between %K and %D ...and the smoothing out of %K and %D is a simple moving average which would be 5 make sense cheers mateIgnored
Disliked{quote} I would say like this, stoch is a momentum indicator and it shows the location of the close relative to the high-low range over a set number of periods. In my example - stoch (34,6,2): 1st step - calculation of %K values: %K 34 = (Current Close - Lowest Low of the last 34 periods)/(Highest High of the last 34 periods - Lowest Low of the last 34 periods) * 100 2nd step - smoothing %K values: Slow 2 %K 34 = %K 34 values smoothed with 2 SMA --------------------- blue line on my chart 3rd step - calculation of %D: %D 6 = Slow 2 %K 34 smoothed...Ignored
DislikedSo today a bit messy with only webtrader lol, hard to analyze anything with that shit but Digg charts helped. Back home, checking bigger charts and todays play starting to make sense. If gold keeps pushing down and breaks last q low and last weeks low, next big level I'm watching is 1730-40. {image} {image} {image}Ignored
