Price is ranging @ 1492,74

If Price hits 1503 Long ----> TP1515

If Price drops to 1484.32 then short -----> TP 1478

Hello guys,
This is my first reply ever! I will try to be more active on this forum since I really like the community here!

I bought @1509 with SL just bellow 1485 that did NOT hit.
TP @1515. I went long after thinking that the 200-day 4h chart EMA and the 1500 levels would be a good support. Clearly I was wrong. However, 1485 is a very strong support as it is the top of last month's ascending triangle!

What do you think about the position? And thank you for welcoming me .

heaven for scalping right now...

my tp is 1503... but i’ll take anything above 1500...

fucking dancing close to 1500... c’mon one spike above...

Well done on this past month bud, wishing you many more green pips..

Been buying dips for the better part of the day since we fell from that right shoulder level near those downside levels....

Price been acting like a magnet around these levels.....so long as the base holds will continue buying dips and trailing quickly up until price can actually breach the 1500 handle then will load more long term longs, till then we ride the new wave...same levels posted a challenge going sown they willl do the same going up.....last day of the week so trade safe...

Yep... now done for the day... i believe will still go up... n make the weekly candle green not sure.... btw i will spam u guys with my milestones... 1k-2.4k in 1 n half trading day.. next target 5k next week.. have a good weekend everyone...

Maybe the price will return to support next week..I took this purchase and I closed all... I'm waiting to reenter again.
but price seems to be on a trend line in M15 in the moment.

Hey All,

To start, sorry if this shouldn’t really be here - I thought here might be the best place to ask because of the traffic/the wealth of experience of the people whom frequent here.

I’m pretty much exclusively a GBP/USD trader and have been since 2016 (Brexit Referendum). I’ve got quite a large knowledge of constitutional law, so Parliamentary process and that’s always hugely helped because I’ve been able to see how T.May’s deal wasn’t going to work, and the pitfalls with B.Johnson’s approach. Obviously I’ve always paired this with technical analysis but having a deep knowledge of Parliament made me a pretty penny or two. I want to branch out into gold though as I’m seeing signs it’s something that’s going to be rather important in the next 6-12 months.

That being said, I’ve had an exceptionally torrid time trading Gold. It’s almost like I’m missing something fundamentally essential to trade gold successfully. Every sound entry I think I’ve made, based on how I’ve traded GBP/USD has gone sideways and my stoplosses seem to be acting like what I’ve always wished my take profits would be (absolutely ruined).

I don’t over leverage, have wild profit taking dreams or get over emotional trading, however my the lack of my ability to understand gold is really grinding my gears.

So with all the above in mind, I’m not too proud to say I think I might need a bit of help - I have a feeling like the set up needed for Gold is completely different for anything else so I wanted to ask a few questions which are below about your set ups and how you approach tradings Gold.

They are as follows:-

- What kind of technical analysis do you use/recommend for gold? I.e.:
- EMAS (what period?)
- Fibs
- MACD
- RSI
- S/R

- How much weight do you put on candlestick analysis?

- How much weight do you put into what’s going on i.e. trump?

- Do you ever trade around news?

Is there anything else you do or that you recommend with trading Gold? Such as recommended reading materials like articles or something to always bare in mind with analysis?

Anything you can impart is a massive help!

I use S/R only. Price based indicators like MACD don't really tell you anything you can't already see on the chart. Intraday candlestick analysis is meaningless since it all depends on open/close times on the candle and they're mostly arbitrary. Daily candlestick analysis might have some significance, but I wouldn't read into it too much.

Trump and other current events matter a lot, but to a large degree they're unpredictable so they're tough to plan for in advance.

I rarely trade the news, but you can do well with it on occasion... When big paradigm shifting news hits the market everyone will want to reposition. That can't be done immediately so you can have a nice momentum trade if you get in quick. These kinds of big headlines don't hit too often unfortunately.

Gold and bonds trade very closely together over the short term. I recommend studying what affects bond pricing and you'll have a better idea of what moves gold.
