dxy is really walking that tight rope! keeping her cards close to her chest!

Not IMO. Fed held. Rates dropping. DXY drops. For now anyway. Once dust settles maybe DXY resumes going up in anticipation of June meeting and probable rate hike.

Meanwhile equities having yet another big down day.

i hear you, and i dont disagree.

im just not getting a good read on XAU for this move up (if it happens)...

nor on DX for the retracement before continuing north (for the june meeting)

A little hazy for me as well. Markets probably waiting on NFP tomorrow?

my personal opinion is that we may see a new high for year 2018 in 6 to 8 weeks time. just a hunch and nothing to back up my opinion. First number that came to my mind is 143x.xx.

Edit: my buy order is on 1303 to 1304.

yea i think so too, tho UJ is signalling a bullish xau move,

based on that, and going on my gut, im long a small position with the stop under the low of the week

i recon 1313 is the line in the sand on a weekly closing basis

IMHO:

im looking for an evil selloff in xau as the dxy rally gathers steam, maybe even push it down under $1000, this should ideally happen over the summer/fall, and after that we would see a strategic reversal that will take it to new all time highs, over the next few years (into 2020-21). to make this happen, the correlation between DX and XAU would need to flip from -1 to +1... and there is historical precedent for this...

the key lies in DXY, and the price action over the last couple of weeks was probably the opening salvo; in time, i think dxy will exceed its december 2016 high, and the EURO will break under parity... (target 85 cents)

fundamentally, as the economic situation in EU gets worse with draghi stuck in a vicious cycle where he may end up owning more than 60% of EU debt and cant reverse QE, Theresa May stuck with foot in mouth disease and on the verge of perjuring herself, the Abe administration not wanting to rock the demographic boat which simply wont allow inflation to kick in, and finally EMFX and EM Bonds start to crack under the weight of normalizing US interest rates, i suspect that DX will start catching a serious bid as the weeks roll forward and destroy most traders who are complacent with their shorts.

the old wall is still short usd, and have been selling a globally synchronized recovery for over a year, that entire premise is on the verge of melting down, it was BS when i first heard it, and its still BS!!

Bad news for gold.. IMHO it's resist very much.. Be aware for spike.,. Up.. Or... Down...

a handful of well respected macro analysts are starting to rumble about bullish dxy (including Raoul Pal)

Silver has formed a very telling hammer candlestick at the support at 16.00 on the weekly time-frame, next target is probably around 17.00.

an idea:

i like the lower target due to multiple confluence zones (around 1330-1333)...

i think it may be a great place to short again...
