I agree, especially when there is no news moving the market.
BUT you never know in this market everything is possible. 1742 represents 23,6 level for the entire down move, breaking this then gold is moving north.

Forget about gold, doesn't look good, and technically it's not clear.

Look for UsdCad long and UsdNok, while eurgbp based on daily and will take some time.

Sorry guys, 1742 represents 23 resistance on the second down move, 1771 represents the 23 resistance on the entire down move.

That means we still have a chance to look to short the gold.
