Find a broker that offers Eur/Xau.
I'm not aware of any broker offering E/X but a lot of brokers offers Usd/Xau.
Is there any reason you need to trade Eur/Xau as opposed to Usd/Xau?

You could create a synthetic that acts like a XAU/EUR position.

This is with the premise that USD/CHF and EUR/USD still maintain a high negative correlation.
Which means individually versus the dollar (on the same side) EUR and CHF are highly correlated.

For example: you want a long position similar to XAU/EUR.

long XAU/USD
long USD/CHF
(and you must do some math in relation to position size to make sure they offset eachother)

this should act like a long XAU/CHF which with correlation,
would act like a long XAU/EUR....

(Edited twice!!)
Anyone care to confirm? my "ghetto" synthetic?

only problem could be the extra spread/rollover?

or is the spread for Xau/Eur just the spread of the two pairs added anyway?

hmmmmm...

I use Forex.com they have Xau/Eur

Depends on the size of one lot.
It's impossible to cover 100% without microlots (0.01, 1000 EUR).

it's a good broker, and it's reliable because it's based in UK, and it's regulated by the FSA. It also allows trading microlots (at least with forex).

Thanks for the info Capital Gain I was wondering the same thing. With eur being as weak as it is only makes sense to trade it against gold rather than dollar

Was thinking about this earlier,
and I agree the best way to a create and express a synthetic XAU/EUR position would be:

LONG: Gold short Euro
Buy: XAU/USD = 1 lot
Sell: EUR/USD = 1 lot
= 2 trades to simulate

Lately this trade may actually produce more profit than a Simple XAU/EUR long
gaining from USD on EUR short and From Gold rising expressed in USD. Due to the current semi-correlation of Gold and the USD north while EUR slides.

Actually on any recent day I am usually Long Gold and Short Euro. With a focus predominantly on Gold, depending on my strategy.

SHORT: Gold long Euro
Sell: XAU/USD = 1 lot
Buy: EUR/USD = 1 lot
= 2 trades

One Could apply this to other pairs, ie:
XAU/GBP = Synthetic "Long" > Buy XAU/USD - Sell GBP/USD

ALSO: Gold is the Base currency in ALL pairs used. And unless you are using a specialty broker EUR is base in EUR/USD

Are there any brokers that allow trading gold against the GBP as well as dollar? from this thread i can see that i could make the trade by placing two separate trades, however i would like to be able to display XAUGBP in metatrader so that i can use my indicators on this pair rather that having two separate charts, each with their own indicators. Because of this i would prefer not to have to do the two separate trades if i could help it.

Sorry if this is slightly off topic, but as a new member i am not permitted to start a new thread.

This is pretty easy to execute with Oanda, however it's hard to get a stop-loss working...

As others have already said: you buy 10oz of XAU for 11,830
You Shorted the Dollar by doing that, so you buy back $11,830 by selling Euro 9,065.

And you can literally do this with any currency pair they offer but how do you set a stop-loss? That would be my biggest issue with doing this type of trade. Since you have two trades, you can't do one-cancels-the-other order between two separate "currencies". Maybe with an MT4 broker you could set up an EA to do this for you...

I actually once did a silver vs. gold trade (something like selling 65oz of silver vs. buying 1 oz of gold) that drove me batty because each PnL is calculated separately, so you see a loss on one and a gain on the other most of the time.

I found that it's easy to do, but hard to keep your sanity, but that's just me!

This sounds like a pretty easy EA to program. Find yourself a programmer on this board and throw a couple bucks at him

Much thanks man! And great TE, of yours (published one) so far! Dedicated one, I approve The last time I checked this XAU/EUR was the end of last week and XAU/EUR seemed to advance more than XAU/USD... at least from 22JUN19... the timeframe that I looked... But for the beginning of this week, the gains by XAU/EUR doesn't seem to have much, if any, advantage.. But yeah, everybody waiting/speculating about FOMC tomorrow... I will now wait for this to come out, stabilise... and than estimate/fit "the curve"... At which point I will see if it would be better to stick to "traditional" XAU/USD, like you are, judging by your published TE... Or if I should open dedicated TE for for XAU/EUR and trade it (basically doing BUYs with different strategies)... Because, as I have said many things... I believe the "only", at least for now, potentially negative component of XAU is the stronger USD which I am betting on, by the end of OCT19 at least.. So will have to see now if this is true... Tnx again for the (XAU/EUR) broker info... I might "give back" by publishing dedicated GOLD (XAU/EUR) about it, should things go well (predicted/forecasted)
Can you afford to take that chance?
