Hello, I am trying to improve my knowledge of fundamentals. I have been studying the basic theory behind tradeflows and capital flows, and how they together make up the balance of payments. I now need to get better at informing myself about the current situation.
If I look at the economic calendar, and I want to read up on:
1) Current account
2) Capital account
3) Combined balance of payments
Which are the indicators that I should follow - for example if I look at the
1) USD
2) EUR
3) JPY
4) GBP
Regarding the current account I see various "trade balance" indicators being published - but they don't make up the whole current account - there's more than that on the current account.
Regarding the capital account, I guess that for example the "TIC Long-Term Purchases" are relevant for the US capital account, (but not exaustive?).
So my basic question, to be precise, is this:
"If I want a complete overview of the balance of payments (which is made up of current account and the capital account) of a single country - which indicators should I follow? (US, EUR zone, Japan and UK in particular)"
(As far as I have understood there isn't a total "balance of payments" indicator for each country - so how do I get the full overview?)
Thanks & regards
