In January 2017, I started a company called T R A D E R C A R T E L™ with a business partner that shares the same passion as I do. We both love financial markets and would love to help others succeed in them as much as we have. I've decided to start this trading journal to track my trades for members of T R A D E R C A R T E L™ to follow along and for non members to see what we are all about, as well as bring some transparency to my trades. My strategy is a trend following system that uses end of day data to provide entry and exit signals. I look for 4 types of trades and these are as follows:
- Trend Change: When a market moves out of one trend and into another or when it moves into a ranging market before trending again I will take a position in line with the new trend. I cannot predict new trends, but I can react to the possibility of one.
- Pullbacks: When the market is trending and it pulls back to the the top of the trend channel in downward trend, or the bottom of the trend channel in a upward trend I will add to my position from the trend change entry.
- Inside bar(s): An inside bar is a bar that is completely contained within the preceding bar. I will add to my position in the direction of the prevalent trend.
- Reversals: These trades are entered in the opposite direction of the prevalent trend and will have tight stop losses to prevent large losses. If the reversal turns into a trend change the opportunity for large profits is improved. If not, I will take the small loss and continue trading in the prevalent trend.
On top of the four entry signals I will implement a risk/money management strategy. The idea behind this strategy is to hop into a trend and ride it out gaining 80% of the move. I will use a low 1% position rule for entries. Pyramiding will also be used and I will add 1% of equity to my positions for each of the following trade setups: Pullbacks, Inside Bar(s). For reversals, I will use 0.5% of my equity as these carry some inherent risks going against the prevalent trend and preserving equity is always more important than predicting the market.
Thanks for reading and following along. I look forward to any questions or comments you guys have.
