Nope .... still no good...

I'm leaving trading alone for today and spend my time doing some more worthwhile (e.g. looking for some $OTHERBROKER).

no messages as to what is wrong so far.
still cant close trade with trade station or MT4
Thought there might have been some message from them on the platforms

I just tried my FXCM account, it works now.

Mine appears to be working properly now, although some pending orders were opened at about 25 pips slippage. I'm obviously not happy. I'm subscribed to this thread and I'll let others know the outcome. Failures are allowed. It's how they are put right that matters.

mine still not working.
have sent info to FXCM anyway so i figure they will honour the trade along with the screen shots I have sent them.
Feels better watching the trade fail to close and being in profit, then watching a loss get bigger.

I just got into the office here in the US and see that a lot of you have faced tech issues while I was away. I will respond to each of you personally, but first I want to make sure that everyone has the following information from the FXCM Platform Update Center at www.fxstatus.com


FXCM Platform Update Center


While all systems are currently operating normally, we are aware that some clients may have experienced issues logging in earlier today. If any positions on your live account were negatively impacted by these issues, please submit a trade audit online, with the following information: ticket number, time, rate in which you wanted to exit and the amount disputed.

I hope you understand why the little guy is getting frustrated with all this nonsense, Jason.
They keep changing the goalposts for us on a continual basis and it seems no one in the industry even cares.
Now this issue with Build 711. Why was this even necessary?

It seems we have nowhere to go. We have been pushed into a corner of having to trade with FXCM, only to turn around and get hosed yet again. I know that you didn't initiate the problem. I just get the sense that you guys really couldn't care less.

You should understand that we do this because we love to trade; not the drama. We will find somewhere, someone who will treat us fairly, who will be considerate of our needs and have a level playing field so that we can do what we love to do. It seems FXCM is not it.


This past year is a compete and utter shame that as been perpetrated on honest traders just trying to get along.

Addo: P.S. Is it possible to switch to FXCM's other trading platform? I really don't need MT4 anyway. It is a most unimpressive trading platform, as I am sure you will agree.

You will only honor exits? What about the entries we missed?I wanted to take short 18K GBPUSD at 4:29 Eastern Time. So that is about 1.6015. I want it honored and exit be at 1.5915 for 100 pips or I change broker. I have evidence that I tried executing a test order at 4:26 Eastern:
The test "entry" order was a NOT at the price and how I was gonna execute it. Like I said 18K short GBPUSD at 4:29 Eastern. $180 reimbursement or I'm gone.

I don't like it but it hasn't real been a problem using it until now. I mean, I don't care about the platform so much, unless I just entered a USDJPY short and suddenly have no control over it.

I was swapped over from IBFX to FXCM. Back in the day, IBFX was a really good broker and I had had a bad experience with FXCM previously. But in all deference to FXCM, I am finding the spreads quite nice indeed, though they take a commission with the trade. It is somewhat confusing getting used to how they document and account for commissions but that's my problem.

What I mean to say is that over the past year, year and a half, the retail 4X trader in the US has been raked over the coals, forcing us to keep practicing and learning new systems in accordance with all the new rules that pop up every month. That is not the fault of FXCM or IBFX. It is simply a product of central banks and very large institutions having their way with the little guy.
It is difficult to trade in this environment regardless, much less with everyone changing the rules as we move along.

Now, this latest "Build" from MT4 is just like another slap in the jaw. It is apparent that no one in the trading world checked to see if the thing worked before forcing it on us. I didn't even know the platform had changed. I wasn't given a choice. Only because the big brokers don't care, not even a little bit, for the retail 4X trader.
Yeah, we're not the mother's milk...yet...but we could be one day. But changing the field makes it unfair to those who try to make a go of it.
It's just a shame.

it actually worked out in my favour. I won't be complaining about the extra 50 pips I made cause my limit didn't trigger. But I will recover my 50 pips lost tyvm

Question for Jason: Why did this happen, wha is FXCM doing to fix and prevent a reoccurrence, and why should I continue to do business with you?

The potential opportunity costs after an incident like this is indeed worrying.

A question unrelated to the problems with the platforms (which have occurred twice in the last month; once during the Scottish election and once last night; up until then, no probs, at least while I was on).

In any event, I'm a Mac user and managed to get an emulator to run the non-web Trading Station. Unfortunately, it won't accept my web-based login/password, so my question is ... :

Will I need a different login in for that, as I did with MT4? If I decide to use it, will I have to open a new account and then move funds into it (as I assume I would have to do with MT4)?

I'd like to compare and contrast my experience with the web-based Trading Station, the Trading Station platform, and the MT4 platform before deciding on whether I want to just stick with the web-based platform or move to the Trading Station platform using the emulator (which I will want to demo for glitchiness with the emulator before moving over, if that's what I decide to do).

I'm leaning toward one or the other Trading Station platform; the MT4 build that I've been demo-ing ... well, let's just say that me and it don't get along very well ... .

Would have to agree that the MT4 needs some substantial massaging ... . The only difference between the platform and an old Unix terminal is that you've got a color palette ... .
