thank you for your post, however MACD can actually be reprogrammed to undo the lag. how ? use 3,5,13 notice the numbers are actually fibonacci numbers 3,5, 13 for MACD. if you want to decrease the lag reprogram your ADX and Stochastic and you will not believe what you will see on your chart. i use support and resistance too. the good thing about the smaller time frames is actually that you get to win most of your trade if you can reprogram your indicators. I have won most of my trades on gold, i loss when i leave my PC or stop following my rules. I can send you my demo account statement(lol) however I want to improve my knowledge.

Good you have something that works for you

Retweaking MACD to low fibonacci numbers does not mean eradicating lag...The mind gets tricked into thinking this... In reality any indicator based on a moving average "is lagging" because it accounts for whatever has happened in the past before.

Of course value can be found in all sort of indicators...but they are all most all lagging and should be used for confirmation...

Main thing that one should understand is "market psychology" --- what is really happening on the charts...how are price action candles behaving; is there any "pattern forming"; where are we on the wave cycle? How is "relative" volume? How is price behaving on support and resistance areas? etc These are the main questions... After all this its all about probability, risk/money management and then above all else your discipline!

There are many types of wave cycles...but Elliott is the best place to start... http://www.elliottwave.net/educational/basictenets.htm

You should read the book elliotwave principle by "Prechter" (the valid source of elliottwaves). Any thing else you come across "neowaves", "harmonic waves" etc are all offshoots... I am not saying to discount them; as they could be right...but first and foremost one should get the basics right and then move on... In fact there is a decent thread on ff called "elliottwave trading" but only start reading it after going through the above website and book thoroughly.

To understand volumes... People call it by many different things...VSA, "supply/demand" (I'm assuming it is the same thing)... All of these methods have spurred up through the work of richard Wyckoff, Tom Williams (tradeguider). Google their names and read their books as it will give you a better perspective on the markets...

Global, align daily fibo retracements with dayly/weekly trend. look for an entry poin that will follow that trend ant the top/bottom of the candle and sell it/buy it at your expected tp for the dayly/weekly. Its the easiest way to predict it's movement without too much headtache..

For example as it stands now, the weekly candle is in a " will it break top?" "or not"? you should place a buy entry in case it breakes with a tp for a fibo level of your chosing depending on your needs/timeframe.

In case you feel it will not break, place a sell entry for the weekly trendline where the candle should hit to sell with a tight stoploss to control your trade and place a tp for the lowest point of the candle..

Repeat this process over and over and it should make your life alot easier

Here we go again! The same old questionable result. Twenty minutes before the Unemploment Claims figure is released Gold suddenly drops some 300 pips. This strongly suggests the result was leaked. Lo and behold the result comes out and it points to an appreciation of the dollar but that has already happened 20 minutes ago. It now retraces and goes against the result 300 pips in the opposite direction. Simply ridiculous! The system is geared to take your money and has no interest in giving a trader a fair chance.
