Yes the 30 plus dollar moves are long over...unfortunately.
But any prolonged period of low volatility is eventually going to lead to big and erratic moves sometime or the other...

I have heard great things about ichimoku too... I know a very successful trader who uses ichimoku. I personally don't but I might look into it in the future...
Trading works very differently for everyone... some people feel better adjusted to one particular system, while others to a complete different system.; what matters is the individual (understanding the self [scrutinizing your own nature; your own behavior patterns etc)...
It is usually after losing money that one starts a self reflection and education process... (its a complete psychological trip which takes you from feeling like a failure to eventually finding success)
I remember when I blew my account when i started; I was shattered (felt terrible/ a failure) and I became afraid to trade...and like most people I really knew nothing; but then I read market wizards (it truly is the traders bible!)... that book has the power to lift you up again and make you understand how the best in the business function!
If i recommend anything to anyone; it is that book! Any person beaten down by losses is guaranteed to find new hope!
