I do, but they are hedged. Now I have to let go all my short positions (I already closed half of shorts).

It is not logical to me:
1. at the beginning supply/demand occurs at the market
2. because of new supply/demand Market Spread is changed
3. then buyers/sellers start buying/selling, this is price action

So, you see price action, then calculate M.Spread from price action. But it is already to late, since price action has already occurred and filled the gap, Market Spread is not valid anymore at the calculation time?

If you have no idea how to calculate Market Spread from Price Action then you're on the right track.

It took me a long time to figure it out!!!

You can rest assured that it is possible.

When I started out, nobody ever gave me a hint that it was possible.

One curious question, can it be calculated from the amount of tick everytime price moves? (E.g. it is also time dependent because sometimes price stay constant for a few seconds). Sounds like one needs a good programming skill and maths skill for this..very hard

I think not. Because broker send you ticks. Different brokers are sending different amount of ticks.
At this time I think it is not possibille at all. I have wrote the reasons in previous post.
Even if one somehow calculate Market Spread, how can be verified that calculation is accurate?

But of course, If Jackeollio's Trade Explorer would become public, we could check at once if his calculations are ok

i m long 1 option with 2 day to expire and one optiion with 25 days to expire. same market and strike price.
the option with 25 days lost 3 time more thant the option with 2 days to expire.
why the closer to expiration option is holding more it value thant the option with more time?

Well the best way to verify whether it is possible to calculate Market Spread:

1) look at the charts I posted today ... compare the info on the charts with what you see on your trading platform.

2) keep looking at the charts I will be posting and you will have proof it is possible and accurate.

As for my trade explorer, it wouldn't be useful since I use my trade explorer to validate trade recommendations made by other traders on various sites (to test their methodology, not mine).

im long calls gld today i lost about 700.00

but im still holding the april 128 call

Looking @ the GLD options, you're probably long the 128 calls in march & april. The march option didn't lose as much because there's not much left to lose since chances aren't very good it'll get to 128 by Friday close. Price was @ .24 so lost .12 today. The april option lost .36 today which is 3 times as much as the march loss but there's more left to lose (1.26 at beginning of the day) as there's a better chance that GLD can get to 128 in the next month.
So I wouldn't say the near month is "holding more it's value" when there's almost nothing left to lose.

if it fails to hold 1303 then 1298 (yesterday's low) then 1289...
