Over 50% of my orders are rejected with an "off quotes" error, even with the slippage order parameter set at 20. Round-trip ping duration from my terminal to the mt4r01 server is 1ms. I haven't experienced such poor execution from any other broker. What's going on at FXCM?

Hi Hyper,

I'm sorry to hear you've been having difficulty. The fact that 50% of your orders aren't going through could indicate a some technical issue with the settings. Where are you located? Also, are you running MT4 on a VPS or directly on your own computer?

You might already be aware of this but the max deviation setting is in tenths of a pip, so a value of 20 is actually 2 pips. Have you already tried a max deviation setting of 30, which would be 3 pips?

I agree with Turveyd's suggestion that you try checking the bid versus the ask price for the time in question. That's the most likely explanation. It might help you to visualize the spread if you use a tick chart timeframe, because that will show you the bid and ask prices simultaneously.

On the Trading Station charts, go to File > Create MarketShot. Then you can specify the exact time range you want to look at on the tick chart. For example, in the image below I selected a time range from 5 minutes before to 5 minutes after the Non-Farm Payroll announcement on August 3rd.

In the tick chart below you can see the spread on EUR/USD widened to 7 pips right before the announcement.

thanks for your explanation,
yes Turveyd`s suggestion was right.
I used the tick charts as you explained it and checked the trades on which I was stopped out.
The reason was that I didn`t noticed the ask prices on my short trades.
So sorry, that was my mistake and it`s clear for me now.


I have another question to you, it`s about FXCM`s margin rules:

Does FXCM change the margin rules (leverage) over the weekends for european customers?

For example, the broker dukascopy changes the available leverage of 100:1 to 30:1 over weekends.

Cool 1 issue sorted.


Never held over the weekend but never seen a margin requirement change anywhere so i would say not.

hope you`re right again.

I prefer to hold positions over weekends for longer periods of time,

so when the leverage would be changed it could be difficult when sometimes using a higher leverage.

Turveyd is right as usual The margin requirements remain the same on weekends as on weekdays, not only for FXCM UK which serves our Europeans clients, but also for FXCM US and FXCM Australia.

We just released an update on Apple App Store and Google Play (Android Market) for Trading Station Mobile phones and tablets to include new language options. The platform now supports English, Chinese(Simple), Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Greek, Russian and Turkish. Your phone or tablet will not force you to update the program, so to make sure you have the latest version, go under Settings and make sure you have Version 1.4.080712.

Hello Jason I have 2 questions first is regarding what accounts are available for Canadian residents I searched this forum and saw that you posted back in Jan that Canadian residents, with the exception of British Columbia, can still continue to open with FXCM UK if they want however when one visits the UK, US and micro websites they are directed to the sign up with friedberg which only offers MT4 and the standard account is it not possible to sign up with fxcm uk anymore? My second question is what platform and accounts are the CFDs available for?

I'm glad you asked, because there have been many updates since then. First, all Canadian residents (including in British Columbia) can open forex trading accounts through Friedberg Direct, with the exception of Alberta where the regulations prohibit retail forex trading. Since Canadian residents can open accounts through Friedberg which is regulated in Canada by IIROC, FXCM UK no longer opens accounts for Canadian residents.

Currently Friedberg only offers forex trading, not CFD trading, but they are working on getting regulatory approval for CFDs as well. They offer trading on the FXCM Trading Station and MT4 platforms. Let me know if another platform interests you. For those Canadian residents who would like to open an account with Friedberg Direct, here is their website: www.fxcm.ca

Thanks for the reply i'm actually interested in the micro account or the standard if it did offer CFDS but Friedberg does not offer micro accounts I think fxcm uk should still offer those accounts to Canadians since there not yet available did all the previous Canadian account have to transition to friedberg?

I've confirmed that FXCM UK can no longer accept clients living in Canada, but I will update you should micro accounts or CFDs become available through Friedberg Direct (www.fxcm.ca) for traders in Canada.

I just used the FXCM mobile app to manange and then close my trade. In the past I just used it to see what was happening to my trades, but I used my laptop to make any changes. Although I liked the new version, I had not gotten really comfortable with it, and tried to manage my trades. This morning, I moved my stop loss, and then closed my trade. The new app is a vast improvement from the earlier versions. The current version is slick. Congratulations and thanks to the FXCM system designers.
