On further thought couldn't be done as I suggested because at NFP it could move 50 pips while no feed, can't have that

We no more report to support because each time we reported before you said NO ISSUE NO issue. while it was obvious there is a congestion in data you feed to customers as with NFP & fast moves, there is a lot of tick more than usual. Your servers would run perfect but cutomers won't get the ticks as you are unable to feed all customers with that data. So you should set some VPS arround the world & make some MQL to monitor ticks they receive & you will see that since month's instead of denying the fact.

This problem may be minimal for you as it will happen for 5 min each 2 weeks or month but it's a big reliability & trust problem.

Fix is urgent.

Hi chris,

Also a good broker is a broker where we can trade NFP. So imagine if we get issues on each NFP? NFP is known as the ultimate & classic test of broker reliable price feed. So it raises big doubt after so many failure over NFP. And again it was not only NFP but I noticed too on ECB rate decision too as we had very fast moves too.

My wish is you fix this issue & get servers in europe/ US to solve latency execution delay. That would make Go markets really one of the best brokers arround for European traders.

I was talking about many ticks== Server over loaded it took you 2 month's to back check it & validate it. and see it was not only NFP. It's mostly fast moves that get your price feed crazy generating too many ticks & don't tell me with 8/MB effective measured bandwith I'm unable to handle your ticks data.

PS: Is currenex handling your price feed??

E/U stucks @ 1,40657 since minutes, real price on any other broker is 1,40330 now. Im on DC4, switching to other server didnt solve the issue

I guess that "people" trust what is experienced by other traders on this forum more than broker explanations, in general.

I know that (eventually) I had more positive response and suggestions on this forum than from the broker.

I didn't bother trading NFP last Friday because of my previous (bad)experiences, not just one but 3 different brokers. I have learnt my lesson.

However, I agree with some others and I also have had issues around not just NFP.

ps. manually entering the server ip's instead of autoconfig has heped, not totally solved but has improved "execution delay" issues.

I have looked at the screenshot and it is strange as there was no interruption in the feed on this pair or any other yesterday. If I look at the chart for EURUSD on both live servers and the demo there was no gap and the feed cam through continuously, including at the time of your screenshot. In fact, your screenshot does not seem to show any interruption in the chart, but only in the indicator you have employed on the chart. Did you not have connection for a period of time, as that may have contributed to the interruption in the indicator you are using.

Also, you mention that you were connected to DC4. We changed the DC configuration last week as I posted on here, so I just want to check which one you mean. Last week if we were talking about DC4 we would have been referring to Sydney, but since the change that is London as you will see from your platform.

1) There WAS an interruption, on friends platform in Melbourne as well, at this time(documented!), but there only for some seconds.

2)As I stated, the price stuck during the 21 minutes @ 1,40657, at this freezing price the gap in the spread documenter indicator started and that proves there was NO price flow. All other platforms have been up and running at this time. Even GO demo.

3) All my platforms running on CNS UK server, means my server is probably in the same building located together with your UK server from CNS.

4) My platform shows DC4 is London, I connected permanently the GO live platform to DC 4 London for obvious reason( Tools-Options-Server- Data Center)

5) When I don't connect permanently to DC 4, the platform always returns to DC2- Melbourne, which makes no sense at all, since, as far as I know, your trade execution server is located in Sydney. Latency rules...

6) Please provide all IPs for

DC1 - Sydney
DC2 - Melbourne
DC3 - San Diego
DC4 - London

this way everyone can ping the latency, deactivate the automatic data center function and replace it with the best latency IP.

Thanks for getting back to me. Let me answer each of your points.

1 + 2) There is a very big difference between a few seconds and 21 minutes, and I will again confirm that the price feed did not stall for 21 minutes. The fact that your chart shows data in this time is proof of that. I cannot speak for your spread indicator as it is not something we provide or support.

3 + 4) Everyone can of course choose whatever DC they want to connect to, but the simple fact is that the further the DC is from the main trading server, the slower your executions will be. That means that by permanently connecting to London you will experience slower executions. DC1 and 2 in Sydney and Melbourne will give you the fastest executions regardless of where you are in the world or where your VPS is located. That means that the obvious reason you are referring to is actually not an obvious benefit, but most likely a disadvantage to you.

5) If you do not hard code in a DC then it will find either Melbourne or Sydney as the speed is going to be almost identical for you. When I am in Melbourne as a general rule it connects to Melbourne, and when in Sydney I connect to Sydney. It does that automatically. Whilst some people have benefits in hard coding a DC in, there is one major problem with it. If that particular DC or your connection to it has a problem, you will not have a connection.

6) I could give you the IP address for each DC, but I believe it would be pointless. This is because as I have pointed out many times, the ping speed from you to one of the DCs will not necessarily impact on the execution speed. For you using the London DC and a VPS with CNS in London you will see a tiny ping speed of 1 or 2ms. However that will still give you slower executions that if you connected to Melbourne or Sydney. Instead of the IPs let me tell you the ping speed form our main server to our DCs at this moment:

DC1 - Sydney - 1ms
DC2 - Melbourne - 7ms
DC3 - San Diego - 172ms
DC4 - London - 299ms

In addition to the above, when it comes to using a VPS, I understand that many people have multiple broker's running so it is not always about picking the VPS closest to one broker, however I would definitely recommend that if you want to use a VPS whilst trading with us, you pick one in Sydney. We have two different VPS providers listed on our site, but there are many more out there.

I like very much the conditions of GOMarkets... They suits very well my needs. Drawbacks... I live in Italy... they say you could have delays executing orders... Would you go with gomarkets if you lived in Europe? Alternatives? Alpari UK? ActiveTrades?

Hi,

I am new to this forum, but have been with GoMarkets since 2009. I am based in London and can say aside from minor issues I am very happy with them as a broker.

One of my issues has been regarding 'tablet' technology. I am about to purchase an ipad 2 as my netbook is very awkward when 'on the move' I have asked all the questions to 'chat' and to be quite blunt they offer no advice whatsoever. It does amaze me that this technology is not 'matter of fact' to an industry that will surely look to offer 'Forex on the move' as this is a big selling point to attract new customers... worldwide.

Anyway, my question is to anyone who can offer actual experience of working with an ipad (or other tablet). I am only looking to place pending order and modify/close orders if need be. Of course charts are needed but not to the degree to which I use them from my main office based PC.

I am sorry if this is already posted somewhere on this thread but at over 150 pages long I cannot scan through to find some actual answers.

I use an ipad2 with iTeleport (see iTunes store) to connect to my main computer and I can use all facilities, including Hot Keys!

This is a much better option that using the GoMarkets ipad app which is very limited, but might still suit you.

Similar to the poster above, I also use a remote application to connect to my main computer.

I use Splashtop remote on my iPad2 and remote in to my PC.....that way I have full Metatrader.

It can be a bit slow over 3G, but it's still good if you need to check a position, move a stop etc.

Only thing is, you need to have your PC turned on and connected to the internet 24/7.

Why pointless? There are clients outside of AUS, US, UK and big cities. They can do a ping or traceroute to DCs, add the times you have listed and gauge latency of the whole route. So here are the IPs (of course, they can change):

DC1 - Sydney - 118.127.74.114
DC2 - Melbourne - 114.111.146.203
DC3 - San Diego - 206.71.180.206
DC4 - London - 62.216.226.118

But there are other pitfalls. Many traders might be connected via some local ISP, or a re-branded node of former local ISP that was acquired by some big dog but nothing changed in the infrastructure. Do you know how these ISPs work?

There are two key aspects in connectivity market: 1: cost of upstream is much greater than cost of downstream; the farther from backbone to last mile, the tighter technology bottlenecks in uplink. 2: in wholesale ISP market, domestic connectivity costs near to nothing, it's foreign transit that accounts for majority of costs.

In most cases, the aggregation/traffic shaping rules of a local ISP disadvantage distant traffic badly to keep connectivity costs at minimum. The advertised specs of the retail connection are mostly valid for domestic (or near, depends on peering) downstream traffic only. You can have a 100Mb line and actually get that speed most of the time in near traffic (especially downloads), but you can share a 2Mb(DL)/512Kb(UL) shaper queue to AUS with the rest of your smalltown. There's very little demand for this kind of traffic, hence small chance of complaints for speed fluctuation etc. That's OK since you don't need bandwidth for a MT4 connection. But it ceases to be OK if that queue gets full from time to time, your packets get queued, delayed and even discarded and retransmitted etc.

Final note: Ping time is OK for checking wheter the connection works at all and gauging possible minimal response time. But in reality, an ISP can prioritize ICMP packets but shape distant TCP/UDP traffic (been there, done that) so pings always appear ok (stable) but traffic sux sometimes. This is a common way of screwing the client: 'everybody knows ping ok = line quality ok, right?' LOL. Setting up a true P2P application (gaming, phone... but not a UDP-only thing) with an aussie mate is a good check; if you get dropouts while ping is stable, it will be much more reliable to connect to a DC near you, as the line between DC and main server is perhaps top-tech not handicapped in any way, but your retail internet connection probably is.

Professional VPS providers, professional ISPs and solid retail ISPs with fair infrastructure and proper last mile solution at your location should be OK.

Perhaps pointless wasn't the right word, but I should have said misleading.

The reason for that is that if you were to ping those DCs and find the one with the lowest latency, it may not be the one that gives you the fastest execution.

For example if you were in France and you did a ping test it would seem likely that connecting to DC4 would be the fastest for you, but in reality it would give slower executions than if you connected to Sydney (DC2).

Execution speed is usually what clients want to improve which is why we have now confugured the system this way and under most conditions I would recommend that clients do not connect to DC3 and 4 - they are there primarily for backups and to add an extra level of redundancy to the infrastructure.

The key piece of information to consider is that execution speed will be mostly impacted by the latency between the DC and the main server, so using one of the DCs we have in Australia will considerably improve the speed of execution that you get when compared to those further away.

As you have pointed out there are a number of other factors largely depending on the quality of your own internet connection, but of course we can't legislate for that!

I just thought I would let you all know that we are currently in talks with a couple of leading app developers to get a better platform for when you are on the go.

However, it is important to remember that even the most advanced mobile phone apps will not compare to the proper MT4 and you will never have access to EAs or custom indicators, which is why using a RDP setup like splashtop would work well, as long as you have reliable connections and plenty of data.

How about developing your own proprietary platform, I think it's about time GO has its own brand aside from the generic mt4.
