DislikedI think of your style of trading is more like Remora Analysis. It is not Technical nor is it Fundamental. It is completely reactionary. That is in my opinion a better way to trade. It requires no prediction and no postdiction.
However, Darkstar you must admit it requires quite a bit of experience and some intuition. After all you are looking for a familiar price action that in the past has produced results, regardless of what you call the method.
It is because of your knowledge of the market you trade, that you know what you know. and with some help from news stories, (like stops and options and such) that you are able to put the pieces together and place the trade that has been more successful than not...
Is that Pattern recognition? Is it Fundamental? perhaps.. who care, it seems to work, you have predefined rules and you are right more often than you are wrong.
Now this thread has some legs... Thanks Bemac.Ignored
I won't disagree with your assessment. Very few people can do what I do, but that wasn't the point. Technical/fundamental is a false dichotomy and locking ones thinking into one method or the other is not the way to get exceptional results. Everyone wants to think outside the box, but to do so you have to understand which box your trapped in.
Incidentally, I like Bemacs line of thinking. He may not know why what he is looking at works as it does, but that won't stop it from working.
