Ngl, if I have a small account I don’t see a point in risking 1-2%. For instance, if my trading balance is like $500, I would risk $50 a trade, which is 10%. However, if I have a bigger size I would risk no more than 5%, I’m fine with that risk since I’m confident in my trades.
At last an adequate person out here. Idk how people can talk seriously about 1-2% risk and profiting from it, if they’re account is less than 10k. For beginners who want to develop a stronger trading mindset and go for real without blowing accounts, it’s okay. But you can’t follow this approach forever and expect to get something from trading.
I didn’t have the same problem though, because was lucky to fund my acc by prop challenges ( it was really hard to deal with them). If I hadn’t such opportunity, I would do like you mentioned 10-15% risk, of course spending additional time on backtesting though.

That's right! If it's your A setup, then it makes sense to risk more. If it's a C, D setup, then risking something like 1-2% seems to be okay.

Risk varies for different strategies. For example, when trading arbitrage, I set my entry level at 30-60% of my deposit. However, my entries are short and have an immediate stop-loss. I think long-term traders should set their risk at no more than 5% of their initial deposit.
