The Supreme Court struck down a huge chunk of President Donald Trump’s far-reaching tariff agenda.
The law that undergirds those import duties “does not authorize the President to impose tariffs,” the majority ruled six to three.

Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the opinion of the court. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Brett Kavanaugh dissented.

He has claimed that foreign countries bear the cost of his tariffs, and he has downplayed concerns that the taxes will lead to higher prices for Americans. His administration, however, has admitted that the duties are paid by U.S. importers.

Trump has claimed the tariff revenue has been so large that the duties may be able to replace the income tax. He has also floated the idea of sending Americans $2,000 tariff dividend checks.

“We have taken in, and will soon be receiving, more than 600 Billion Dollars in Tariffs,” he wrote in a recent Truth Social post.

Other estimates are significantly lower: The Bipartisan Policy Center, for instance, tallied U.S. gross tariff revenue in 2025 at about $289 billion. U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it had collected roughly $200 billion between Jan. 20 and Dec. 15.

President Donald Trump appeared to drop a hint that the incoming fourth-quarter GDP data would be weaker prior to its release.

“The Democrat Shutdown cost the U.S.A. at least two points in GDP. That’s why they are doing it, in mini form, again,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post at 7:50 a.m. ET.

Forty minutes later, the Commerce Department reported that that U.S. gross domestic product rose at an annualized rate of just 1.4% in Q4, lower than expectations.

Nobody cares. He is above the law. (he thinks he is)

The shutdown was a political standoff. There was a failure to agree on funding arrangements.

It's a two-way street.

Now the megaphone is promoting victimhood (yet again) and conceding a loss to the Democrats when he ought to have demonstrated leadership at the time.

He's not the worst or the best president... this debate is a joke. Try to understand, all presidents have done good policies and bad policies... it is difficult to manage the largest economy in the world, way more difficult than you can think.
He's coming from the real estate industry, so of course he wants the interest the lowest possible. On the other side, the FED is in charge of the maintaining the interest rate and employment in a certain range, that's THEIR job, NOT his... like he wishes. He's using his bullying technique, but those are just words... don't pay attention... look at the numbers (if they are accurate, which i doubt now).
Also, the tariffs were used a century ago and they didn't work. Well the numbers are showing the average American consumers are paying for them in part, and it hasn't made things better (look at the numbers once again
The debt is the real concern... he should focus on that, not trying to police the entire world (which increases the debt btw).
