Amazing that someone would come to Forex Factory solely for the purpose of commenting in the news section about the US. 2000 comments. Desperately hoping the US fails. Blabbering on about a country he/she/it knows nothing about. Imagine wasting so much time.

Ironically, when there is a news article about somnething that happens in France, there's no comment. Obviously France is irrelevant on the world stage but pretty sad to say the least.

On the trading front , that’s a good bit of analysis. The gap down is still there from yesterday and Nvidia 19th . December we have the Christmas rally , 1st quarter I think will be brutal . Maybe one last chance of a new ATH , after that watch out below .

The monthly on the S&P is peaking , Weekly giving huge candles ( 200 both directions ) , Daily playing out to the downside as per your retracement levels .

These huge swings and volatility should be giving cause for concern factoring in the economies performance , shutdown , inflationary pressures and a Fed resistant to change direction due to the inflationary environment .

Seasonal factors do however play a part and book squaring year end .

That said, props where props are due VC (said it in a prior post too): calling 24800-25000 as a target to the downside was spot on. We both saw it...but I refused to "believe" it. Pain....so much pain.....

What worries me is that the bounce from last week was right to the 61.8% area before rolling over again. That solidifies the fact that we are still "in a down trend" off the highs. Once that level is breeched, I will have a bit more confidence in my massively over-levered long position.

I REALLY hope today is a repeat of last Friday, but every time I see one of these bounces, I am reminded that yesterday's open dropped 1%, rallied 1%, and then dropped 2% (/nq) basically within 60 minutes. Obviously, today look more like last Friday and has another amazing candlestick pattern forming off the 50day MA, BUT............

This time I will no doubt be de-levering well before necessary to avoid the same type of pain as was endured over the past 2 days. 720 pts down tip to tail yesterday, 1075 through this morning....that's a hefty move across a few dozen mini's. The H&S (15 minute chart) on the /nq couldn't get much cleaner. Hindsight is 20/20, right? Uhg.

In any event, this has been a welcomed bounce to say the least...time to lighten up assume some losses for fear or another retracement. For what it's worth, at the moment (despite the VIX dropping from 23 to 20 this morning), the markets still seem to be in a state of trepidation. The bounce after an over-extended selloff on "we don't plan to tell you any numbers" -government and "we can't lower rates without data" -fed may or may not be sustained. As I type this, markets are approaching 61.8% retracement of Wed overnight highs to Fri morning lows. That is going to be a key area. For now, I'm smoking the "hopium" with the best of the bulls, but in the back of my mind is yesterday...

Not trying to stick my head in the lions mouth here, BUT....

Doing some quick math here because I was interested to see if your statement holds up:

5pts*50/pt = $250. $250/day*5 = $1250/week. $1250*50 (let's assume you don't make $$ on "market holidays)= $62,500/year. Less US futures taxes (28.6% off the 60/40 long/short term cap gains split), SS/medicare/state/muni taxes...

Effectively, a $30/hour job at 40 hours per week. Now, if you get your $$ in 10 minutes and kick off the rest of the day, that's not a bad hourly rate at all (if it were sustainable and never a drawdown), but I wouldn't go so far as to say it is "great living". Take home won't even cover rent of a studio apartment in any of the largest 5 cities in the US (let alone food....insurance....entertainment....etc). And if you have another mouth(s) to feed, forget it. The stress involved probably wouldn't be worth the hassle.

****Lesson for the kids out there***** If trying to make less than a few hundred thousand per year trading (as a full-time job), you might as well take this approach: buy 2 /es on the next 10% dip and never, EVER, touch it (except to roll the positions). If the /es moves up 500 pts in a year (~10% at these levels minus the 3 roll yield hits), you're looking at $500*50 = $50k. Future 20% pullback, add one. Rinse repeat. Can you beat that scalping/swing trading? Yes. Will you? 95% don't. Even if you do/can, the swings on a small (or over-levered) account can be EXTEMELY swift and painful. "I know, from experience dude, if you know what I mean..." -Chris Farley (RIP).



But back to the commentary: let's just try to be civil. What makes a market is having people with differing opinions. We are seeing that play out beautifully over the past few weeks. There's no such thing as an "unstoppable" market. There's also (not yet anyway) never been an equity market that has gone to zero (that that anyone claims there has been or will be). We all take our lumps, learn, and move on.

If concerned with 'bragging rights', bears make a lot more $$ in a shorter time than bulls....but bulls get to say the are "right" much longer than bears. Each gets their moment in the sun. Presently, everyone can simply sit back and enjoy the elevated VIX enabling 2-sided action.......



........except me....because I need /vx to be back down to 15 by the end of the day to cause another 2% rise in the /nq, /es, and /rty so I can exit some of these darn longs!

If Nvidia gaps higher on earnings you’ll know this move was engineered to get in at lower prices. If it gaps down, then an actual correction is possible.

Here’s a hint, as of late bitcoin has been a good coincident indicator for stocks. Look as an intraday chart of it, do you see where you can draw a straight line under a bunch of candles? That’s support. Then do you see huge green candles after that? That was the indication that stocks had found some intraday support. SPX skyrocketed 40 points off the low in minutes. If you can’t catch a few of those 40 points you shouldn’t be trading.

See how bitcoin topped and rolled a bit? That’s the signal to get out of your dip buy. So you are flat and waiting for another dip to buy. Simple, easy, repeatable. Also to be a trader you have to have pattern recognition. Today obviously looks the same as last Friday, so a big quick up moves are to be expected.

Also, anyone who claims to know where anything will be next week, next month, or next year is a liar. They don’t know because if they did they would be a billionaire from trading. Trading is about taking probable short term trades, many only last a few minutes. So when you see idiots talking about where anything will be in the future, ignore them. If you start thinking you know what the market will do, you will fail as a trader. Let the market tell you what it’s doing.

This market is not allowed to have a correction, obviously. We can’t even have two down weeks in almost 7 months, that puts this bull market in the camp of strongest of all time. However, markets that are not allowed to correct end up crashing, like bitcoin. We will fall big and hard at some point, but no one can know or even guess when that is. We could drop 20% on shock news tomorrow, or go up another 15% before a down move. Point being, I’m not sure I’d be leveraged long overnight without some protection, but I suppose that depends on account size and leverage specifics.

I don’t claim to know where the market is going longer term like the non stop liars here, I can easily prove no one knows that, I just stick to obvious patterns like buying dips for 7 months because it hasn’t stopped working. Good luck to you, honestly, you are only of the only posters here not filled with non stop hate.
