If you know what policies will be held, at what levels, and what effect that will have on the economy, feel free to give the FED a call. Until then, they have to see the effects come through the ACTUAL data vs. making assumptions that change by the time the next tweet hits.

I'm not going to defend a policy decision, but I will agree that they have been VERY clear that there is big uncertainty looming....but that the data hasn't shown inflation coming down significantly nor the labor market crashing.

Team Trump adopts "strategic uncertainty" as an actual policy. Because it's in the Trump deal maker playbook. Nobody in business thinks strategic uncertainty is business-friendly. Trump has heard this, loud and clear. We'll see, soon enough, just how good a dealmaker Trump is. I predict he will have to continue backing down from the ridiculous high tariffs that he imposed by EO. Pundits are throwing around 50% for China instead of 145%. Even 50% would be a virtual embargo for many industries. After Smoot-Hawley helped bring on the Great Depression, US policy makers tiptoed around using tariffs for most of the following century. Until Trump. We'll see how that turns out.

I really hope that tweet comes....because the Q&A is over. There wasn't a massive move the upside during that conference (nothing signifying the FED is any more likely to cut early due to good data...as if any of us thought that would happen) and we've seen so many times when the camera turns off, the market sells off.
