Unless the mkt gets itself out of position again tomorrow Monday, I might watch it flow by and check in on Tues the first.

So what lies behind
AND ahead of us, for the Yen'ners pairs.

A pre look at the GJ 1hr chart (without any of the RNs = too crowded lol)
(I would of course be looking for any RN trader attractors, incl all the confluences, as the week AND the new month of Oct unfolds)

plus the relavent 1/8th Octaves

Now all I do is just change time frames
Then just wait for price to come to a level I fancy having a crack at

I’m just letting now the last day of the trading month GJ chart this morning in Asia recalibrate a bit after Friday’s lovely whoosh down.

So unfortunately, for all, that means I did a long post sorry lol

I loved that 20 year chart.


Yes I did introduce eighths (and the 8th’s also into the Round Number quarter theory as well ie .125 etc) after Alain showed his own reference points way, way back based on his long time studies in his long standing Envelopes thread.

The key imho of all or any trade reference points (and there are many, of course, no one way to do this market trading as you also say)
is the WHERE and when ... ie price & time ... that other traders “might’ also come into the market either adding OR removing (closing for TP or S/L) liquidity.

That liquidity change can offset any static price compression zones (inflection points, Bollinger band squeezes etc etc) and can get the market MOVING for us.
A moving market is eminently tradeable (visually as well imo) whereas a static/stationary market requires a trader to assume/predict (via maths, their indis or whatever) the next direction. Some predict this next direction VERY WELL (ie better than the 50% of the obvious price will either go up OR down concept).

Bigger controllers of market moves (?) will also know this and is why I assume the market does the fake’n’flips,
and as Andy/Moody put it to me once, entice traders initially into the wrong initial direction.

Which can explain how base indis, such as MA’s etc, get out of whack (discombobulated hahaaa) and are then upside down for a “parameter period” until they recalibrate themselves back into current direction/trend.

Whipsaws etc can confuse, in the short term, not only indicators but traders as well as then at those times ‘something’ is happening on the charts that does not fit their current expectation.

After the dust has settled though is often a good time to get in, but as always, up to each trader and how they trade the market from their own understandings.

Price
identified easiest I reckon by a simple horizontal line that shows the price on the right hand vertical axis of our charts
is a CONSTANT..... 190.000 for example will always be 190.000 on the chart, inflexible.

Which price (constant) is it that traders get interested en masse maybe is where those fakes might begin and then ultimate direction eventually take off.

Eighths and quarters I do observe but they do not, for me, function as a “trade entry” if you know what I mean.
I always wish to wait & see the larger market ‘reaction’ at any price or target/station first.

The target attractors
(and again there are many, as different styles of traders come in on their own preference, ie institutional position traders, weekly & daily swing traders, shorter term session based punters like myself hahaa etc)
are best for me when MULTIPLE styles of traders are showing interest all at the SAME TIME which are the best liquidity times
(and are both the high AND low liquidity times which can cause the greater market moves imho).

No one way to do all this, or one which is best.
Just what works for US best.

So thx for the 20 year chart levels
(As well as a 20 year chart there is also a thread on FF somewhere I remember that recalibrates its levels based historically on the ALL TIME and therefore
widest high / lows ever - interesting, but again not tradeable as per the levels imo. It will always be, for me that is, the market reactions first as being safest)

A 1 min chart has other factors that might also influence direction & its subsequent bobs up & down, and I trade occasionally from a 1min to try and finesse an entry, but in the end the 5m, 15min give me a better handle on the wider picture.

I always seem get back to price & time and (ultimate) direction. Regardless of what chart view we employ.

Myself you know I love the stations / targets (trader attractors lol), others love the hi’s / lo’s, others their maths, envelopes, ma’s, tma’s, trendlines etc etc etc etc etc Doesn’t matter as there is no just one way imo.

In the end it’s really only us I think, and how we trade & how we all manage our trades.
So I always say just "trade safe & trade well" all .

(ps Dave and yes you mention a trader who was one of the true gents here on FF, he never had a bad word for anyone that I remember, he loved his dog, was a great coder, and more. Plus his 666 parameter always gave me a really good giggle also hahaa - RIP )

I always love to see what New York got up to on the charts when I wake up in the mornings
(as EVERY trader would when they wake up to THEIR own charts on a new day)


It’s not always so easy to ‘see’ how the market mechanics move on a static chart
ie imho it is always best for a new trader to ‘learn’ anything on a dynamic chart
(see Simulator link below for any new traders)

And again, just imho, once you grab an idea of what the market is doing then you can dump everyone else’s template
and find your OWN TEMPLATE which suits YOU best in the timeframe and the market products you trade.

We can always work out, what works best for us.



Here’s TWO free simulators for mt4 (only, sorry) embedded links in the post below that will work on the weekends also when the markets are closed and you have some free time away from watching live charts (ie watching grass grow hahaa) and where you can also dictate the speed of the candles movements (and see their delta change as its happening) and on whichever timeframe or product that suits you best.

Hi Dave,

ALL charts look great to me, thank you, as they give us an insight into how others view the market (which helps everybody then, I believe)

I honestly believe you would in the end LOVE the simulator on your MurreyM charts.
For mainly seeing how the candles approach & then leave your eighths lines and at what time of the day (session or opens)
which may open up another window of interest

(ps in regards to your 20 year chart model, which I loved, I found the one where the "all time" high & low price was used.
I wont put the actual price up as that may vary a little according to broker feed
BUT
I found the dates in which the current absolute high & low were printed by DATE for the GBPJPY for you to assess in your own time
Max High for GJ was in July 2008, and max low more recently was in Oct 2016
SO
both would fit inside your current 20 year model - well done )
