Australian banks have escaped many a world turmoil and regarded as sound although having large exposure to Australian property is not always wise considering what we saw in the US in 2008 but that's another story.
However if sovereign wealth funds invested in Australian banks and need to sell assets then banks aren't immune.
So far its a ripple effect but the next big rock thrown in may trigger larger waves.
