I have created an AOL IM app that sends me IMs based on my EAs activities...
Here's how it works:
1) My EA trades on H1. Every hour on the hour, a log file is updated with "No Trade" or details of the trade executed.... successful fills, slippage, etc....
2) A Java program I wrote checks the "modification" date attribute of the log file, and when it changes, the program opens the file and finds new entries....
3) The Java application IMs my screen name with the information.
The log also collects information such as "No Connection" and "Insufficient Margin" errors. If I do not receive an IM every hour, I know my server is down. I plan to set this up on a dedicated server, and use a cel phone to receive the IMs. It is the best mobile idea I've had, except to run the EA directly off my cel phone (which I am not inclined to do.)
