This Pine Script creates a custom oscillator that tracks the relationship between Gold (XAU/USD) and 10-Year US Treasury Yields (US10Y).
Mathematically, this ratio often moves higher when Gold outperforms rising yields or when yields fall faster than Gold—scenarios typically associated with "risk-off" sentiment or high inflation expectations.
Breakdown of the Script
Data Fetching: It pulls real-time closing prices for Gold from OANDA and the US 10-Year yield from TradingView’s TVC data.
The Ratio: It divides Gold by the Yield. Note: Since yields are expressed as percentages (e.g., 4.5), this ratio is a specific numerical value used strictly for technical momentum rather than fundamental "fair value."
Signal Logic:
Bullish Cross: Triggered when the current ratio crosses above its 20-period Simple Moving Average (SMA).
Bearish Cross: Triggered when the ratio crosses below the 20-period SMA.
Visuals: It plots the ratio and SMA in a separate pane (below the price chart) and marks crossovers with up/down triangles.
Quick Optimization Tips
Timeframe Consistency: timeframe.period ensures the indicator matches your chart. However, the Gold/Yield relationship is most reliable on Daily (D) or Weekly (W) timeframes to filter out intraday "noise."
Yield Volatility: Because US10Y can occasionally hit very low levels, the ratio can become extremely volatile. If the signals feel too frequent, consider increasing the maLen to 50 or changing ta.sma to ta.ema for a faster response to trend shifts.
How to use the Alerts
Once you add this to your chart, click the three dots on the indicator name and select "Add alert on GOLD / US10Y..." You can then choose the Bullish Cross condition to get notified the moment Gold begins gaining strength relative to Treasury yields.
