Oanda please fix your mobile app for android with regard to changing networks.
If the phone transitions from wifi to mobile data or vice versa quite often your app loses its authentication token
and requires re-authentication all over again.
Yet these kinds of network transitions are the rule not the exception for mobile devices.
This behavior is super annoying.
And no, I am not going to save the password to the android password manager, this is not a proper solution.
I filed this bug more than a year ago and nothing has changed since then.

Everybody, pile on and demand that Oanda address this bug in their app!!

This is bullsh*t.

MT4 user here.

This morning I entered a couple of trades in anticipation of favorable US 'red flag' news at 8:30. When it hit, the usual market maker programmatic whipsaw came in; when I inspected trade history, I found my three trades had been deleted - not stopped by a whipsaw, but DELETED. WTF?

I checked each chart on M1 - they all should have hit the twenty-pip TP before reversing. I am striving to understand this - if I can't trust them to honor the trade, there is no point to using them.

Outside of the three trades you mentioned I hope you are doing well.

It is unfortunate this has happened to you, but sadly it comes as no surprise. There is a saying "That He Who Owns The Gold Makes the Golden Rules." In this case the gold is they own the platform, so they can make the rules as they go. I bet those three trades were about to make you some pips. The excuse will most likely be system error. You & I as residence of the great USA are limited in the brokers, we can hold an account with. Take a look at those broker customer reviews on Trust Pilot & see if you can find one that is worthy of you trading with them. I couldn't find one after reading the reviews of four USA based brokers.

My solution has been to trade futures. Currently trading NASDQ, S&P & Dow. Should you desire, you can trade several FX pairs on the futures market thereby still being in the forex arena, but in a much better trading environment. Another option is to trade with a forex prop firm which seems to be a bit safer but check these out at Trust Pilot as there are bad players there as well.

Go to the CME website & take a good look at what is offered & compare that to what FX offers & decide for yourself what is better suited for you. If you can trade forex; you can trade futures.

Just my view & nothing more. Best of trades to you, my friend.

According to their support, they are saying that execution of those trades would have resulted in being immediately stopped out, so they canceled them. That's BS - I have had that exact thing happen to me in the past. What I suspect is that their execution couldn't keep up with the whipsaw. Whether that is because I was on an MT4 client instead of their proprietary one, who knows, though I asked that question. I will go over to Trust Pilot and see what makes sense. OANDA no longer does.

Hi oradba,

Thats a typical response. Check out futures brokers & take a look over at CME. Take a break from trading while your investigating other much better options. A forex prop account may offer you a better opportunity if you desire to stay with forex, but again be careful in your selection.

I would be interested in hearing from you as you progress along in you quest for a good forex broker. I made that same journey years ago & was blessed that I never experience what you're going thought. I was with FXCM until their demise in the USA. Opened my account with FXCM in the second of week of their opening for business. They had the best trade station in their day. With everyone being regulated out of business we as USA traders have very limited options in the FX market.

Hi, not sure if this thread is just for bad experiences, but I just wanted to add some positive feedback on Oanda. I have used them for a couple months, and my experience is great. I have mostly trade via TradingView, but have frequently used their iPad and Android apps as well as their web browser interface. Not used MT4 or 5. All though their apps are somewhat limited, I have found all to work fine. Also, I have a dedicated contact person, who has called me several times, sorted out any questions I had, and also answered my calls (calls directly to him, not through a switchboard or anything). I also got refunded 1 year of subscription to TradingView from Panda, which of course is sweet. Not sure if other brokers offer the same, but I am very pleased with Oanda in total.

Anybody having trouble with their Oanda trade?

Mine's been frozen for an hour already, or rather woke up to it frozen. No update whatsoever coming in, trade can't be closed.

Hi Oradba,

Red Flag news usually causes a huge liquidity imbalance... just because you saw the one minute price bar pass through your TP doesn't mean that there was liquidity at that price in order for your exit trade to get triggered- same goes with your entry. Price bars provide no information whatsoever regarding liquidity at any given price within the bar. Even a tick chart can't convey whether there was sufficient liquidity at your desired price point to trigger a trade (entry or exit).

Hi Oradba,

In defense of Oanda, davelansing is correct as there are some things that are market driven & not always the fault of the broker., but at the end of the day when your account is with a marker maker keep a close watch on everything that goes on with your trades. I you are happy with Oanda go over to Trust Pilot & share your thoughts. I hope you received a positive resolution on those trades.

Did as you said, a mix of feedback. I have not tried to withdraw any funds yet, so guess I will find out. However in day to day dealings and trading, it works well. I see there are some complaints in here about spreads, and yes, they could be better, at least for minor pairs. I must add that they have a deal where if you sign up for TradingView via Oanda they will credit your trading account with the same amount (limited to the Essentials plan), and this was very smooth, they even credited the money in a few days even if they said it would take 14 days. Anyway, what other platforms would you recommend? Ideally I would like a one in all platform for FX, indecies, commodities and shares, instead of several different ones like I use today.

Hi Bateman,

I wish you the best. Oanda has a good platform with everything I look for in trading software. Even their charts are decent, but MT4 is available with them so you have everything you need to trade. I would stay under the radar & just maybe all with be ok. Maybe keep your withdrawals request to a low to medium amount. That about all I know that might help you. Spreads will widen during important new releases, so trade carefully around those releases. The majority of my trading is scalping related so Oanda probably would not work for me.

Not sure of another broker that offers everything you mention, but a friend of mine is trading with Trading.com & she is very satisfied with her experience so far.

Hello everyone, just wanted to ask if anyone has used OCTAFX before? I'm currently using it as my main broker right now, but I am still having second doubts as its main link to the website is "under maintenance". I am relatively new to trading so I do not know how often maintenance for websites occur. Would love to know what your experiences are using the broker and if you are from the Philippines would love to know what broker you recommend that is good for a small portfolio trader like me.
