LOrds actually do help keeping commissions in check somewhat....its a good way to learn to trade as well...ur right the dtpro is a bid clumsy..but if u get big enough u may have to look at the futures exchange anyway...if there is a prblm they are a direct phonecall away...(very quick 2-3ring pickup) with the wildwest fx brokers ur left hanging out to dry...so be careful . have U ever tried to contact one during trading hrs? Oanda usually responds real fast via e-mail.....no phones though....also Oanda's MT4 and ordering platform seems to be very stable... what type of issues did u have with ur broker if I may ask?

I'm still with Oanda and FXtrade platform. To be honest I have no problems
with Oanda. The amount of negative posts of trading against accounts and
stop hunting have made me leary of continuing with them. An ECN seems the
logical safe way to go. At least there are no middle men or dealing desks
to get corrupted. There are times I feel I have been hunted or certain
situations may be hunted etc. I may be paranoid without evidence. Just the
word on the street has me wondering. I trade 5m periods but am not going to
get into the machinery of my system. Maybe Big Brother is listening.
Paranoid huh? Well here is what I am not. I am not going to trade
wondering whether Company X is screwing me or not. I am going to move to a
ECN that is safer. I don't care if they don't have Pay Pal or whatever. If
it takes 5 days to withdraw so be it. I'm not broke. I don't see Oanda
defending themselves. I scalp taking 1 trade per hour. Things can get hot
at the turn of each hour. MBT I like but is a little awkward compared to
Oanda getting stop orders in. Oanda I just slide mouse to point on FX Trade
I want to enter and hit limit buy/sell and the order is set instantly and
instantly will be an order live when certain criteria is met. Presently
looking at MBT and sniffning others, preferably with PAMM or similar to
carry other accounts. I am making $$ and have gained 18 of last 21 days and
1 even. Why don't I stay with Oanda then? One doesn't tie down the lawn
furniture in a hurricane but at the first sight of calamity.

is oanda a reliable broker? i have been thinking lately to move my current forex account to oanda.

Why not keep them both... provides more trading options as well....

apparently interest has to be declared once it hits the $50 mark. i was wondering how easy it is to obtain $50 in interest as based on my situation i do not have an account, but am thinking of opening an account for scalping which means trades will be open for maybe an hour tops? any chance i can avoid getting interest?

Yes, there's been something wrong with their margin calculations for the past few days. My margin level should be about 13% and it's showing on the console at 18%. I can't come up with the 18% figure anywhere.

Margin Closeout : The situation where all open positions in an account are closed immediately and automatically because the value of the account has fallen below the minimum margin needed to cover the size of existing positions. (Sometimes also called "margin call" in forex.)

The new dynamic spreads are costing me money. When I close out a trade to take profit, the amount paid to my account is usually less than what my chart reads. Not good! Anyone else notice this?

I thought the spreads were always floating? not sure how you can lose money as when you buy, you are paying the ask price and closing with the bid price. so your stop loss and take profits are registered with your bid price. potential issue you could be encountering is setting your stop loss too close to the bid price and a sudden widening in the spreads is causing your stop loss to be exercised.

could that be it?

my suggestion would be to just widen your stop loss (lower it) and give your trades a bit more breathing room.

I have noticed when execute a market trade, the fxtrade platform sometimes set the default TP or SL incorrectly, with a 0.1-0.7 pips deviation.

haven't used them on a live account, just demo-ed on their fxunity platform. however, just learned today that their fxunity webtrader is going to close down. i am considering using a cash account with them for scalping, but now i am a bit hesitant because of this, what you just said of the tp. my tp is usually at 2 pips for scalping so not sure what i'm going to do now.

The spreads on Oanda EUR/JPY are fluctuating from 2.5-5 in one or two seconds. Absurd!

Main intra-day session where there is most volatility tells different story.

side note, tick average per second has been around 3 ticks/sec in EURJPY in that main session

i was wrong about this opinion i had a great time with oanda from 2003 my first account with them i am sorry if i carried out as i lost a lot in this market above 200k in dollars and sorry oanada again i think they have great service only the connection problem and they also have safety of funds and fast execution some times i have profit from just entering a trade but my money management is bad so i loss it fast back i reported the two reply to be deleted by moderator
i love oanda but i can not trade with you any more because i am muslim and i can not take interest so keep it up and please make interest free accounts

They have a Dubai office and they'll give you an interest free account if you're Muslim. I know this for a fact.
