No! Canadian Tariffs have absolutely nothing to do with Gold trading.
Whenever Iran war news subsides, Gold shorts cover their positions, and take some profits, thus pushing Gold price temporarily higher. If there is strong war activity, Gold price will be under pressure, and will slip lower depending how bad the situation is.
It will stay like this until next Wednesday when the Feds meet to decide on interest rates. The market is pricing 15% chance of rate hike. I think it is more like 50%. If they do surprise the market with a rate hike, Gold price will go down sharply. I also think there might be a temporary ceasefire announcement coming soon. This will push Gold price sharply higher. It is very tricky to trade Gold these days.

If the Iran war does not escalate, and they do not start bombing each others oil fields, and power plants, then yes there is a room, between now and before the Fed meeting, for Gold to go higher. If there is a ceasefire, the Gold will even go much higher.
The reason I believe there might be a ceasefire coming is because looking at the Iranian targets which the US hit indicates they do not have real targets to hit. They were hitting fishing boats, recycling plants, medical center, few civilian bridges, and then they claim they were hitting military targets.
Add to that the article in NT Times in which military generals told Trump last week: We do not have enough ammo for a sustained full scale war with Iran. So, it is more likely a ceasefire coming than full scale war.
Since Gold trading is news sensitive, always have STOP to protect your long position.
I would avoid having any Gold position during Fed meeting.

I consider inside trading and manipulation into my trading Trump AND irán be tweeting about peace since sunday so i expect Trump manipulate bullish market all week and even if they hike rates inside traders most likely want to push price higher this week to sweep liquidity and grab short positions at better price
