If the Iran war does not escalate, and they do not start bombing each others oil fields, and power plants, then yes there is a room, between now and before the Fed meeting, for Gold to go higher. If there is a ceasefire, the Gold will even go much higher.
The reason I believe there might be a ceasefire coming is because looking at the Iranian targets which the US hit indicates they do not have real targets to hit. They were hitting fishing boats, recycling plants, medical center, few civilian bridges, and then they claim they were hitting military targets.
Add to that the article in NT Times in which military generals told Trump last week: We do not have enough ammo for a sustained full scale war with Iran. So, it is more likely a ceasefire coming than full scale war.
Since Gold trading is news sensitive, always have STOP to protect your long position.
I would avoid having any Gold position during Fed meeting.
