In the old days, yes war was bullish for Gold, but not this year! It is reversed now.
Nowadays, whenever there is war, traders sell Gold and buy USD as a safe haven. Whenever there is peace, they buy Gold, and sell USD. Today Gold is down sharply, because of the flare up during the weekend. Traders no longer trust the so called MOU signed between USA and Iran. They doubt there is peace, so they sold Gold.
Last Friday Gold was up sharply because we thought war was over.
This has been happening over and over during the conflict.
Trading dynamic changes all the time, and you cannot stick with old ones.

Actually, gold didn't rise with this war, because the Strait of Hormuz is a strategic point that causes oil prices to rise if it's closed, and since oil is bought in dollars, it causes the dollar to rise, therefore gold falls. Your logic is totally upside down. You saying oil is sold in dollars, so when oil is flowing, dollar rises, and gold goes down. This is NOT what is happening.
When Hormuz is closed (there is war activity), oil is not flowing, so no dollar transactions are taking place. Yet what we have been seeing over and over is that during conflict, and when oil is NOT flowing, it is the dollar that rises, and gold that falls. Exactly the opposite of what you are saying. Have you ever traded gold?
