The typical move of oil is to spike up in panic and than have long consolidation phases towards acutal production costs and then restart the cycle through the next manipulation effort. As soon as oil has peaked it will likely go down for years to come...

Energy production cost of photovolatics, wind, hydro and nuclear are all much cheaper at oil prices about 100 USD... if oil stays expensive, it will be replaced even faster and demand will shrink faster than supply.... even synthetic renewable fuels are competitive at current diesel prices.... and when they scale the production costs will go down rapidly towards levels that compete with conventional oil sources.

20 years from know, oil will be like coal today in highly developed economies - not used any more for heating, transport or energy production....and that's likely a good thing.

Do some research. Venezuelan oil is one of the most expensive to produce in the world. at $60 they will lose money - they need over $100 to make money.

Iran better not become world's most wanted country if Oil flow is disrupted or unnecessary increase in Oil price by playing games with the strait of Hormuz even though S.Arabia have Oil pipes that passed through the strait of Hormuz under water for Oil supply we also have Venezuela Oil production for the World market and China already setting up another root for Oil supply to China and Japan... The question is does Iran want to be a rich country or poor country
