    Federal Reserve Governor Stephen Miran on Monday argued the Trump administration’s policy of trade tariffs has proved more benign than many had feared, in comments that argued that foreigners and their firms are the ones primarily paying for the tax hikes, rather than Americans. The comments by Miran, who was appointed by President Donald Trump last year to fill an unexpected vacancy on the Fed's Board of Governors, appeared to contradict data showing that Americans bear the burden of paying for tariffs. “I think the world has been coming in my direction on a number of issues,” Miran said at an appearance at ... President Donald Trump's tariff policies cost each American household an average of $1,000 last year, and are set to cost those households an average of $1,300 through 2026, according to new analysis. Miran is an idiot or the analysis is lying !!

I find it utterly amazing that someone in such an important position would stoop to reciting HALF of an argument in support of Executive branch policy decisions that actually belong to Congress. The missing half of the analysis is the level of "tariff price-through" activity, that goes to reimbursing foreign firms for the tariffs they paid to the US govt. by increasing the cost to US distributors and eventually, consumers.
