Canada will impose a 25% global tariff on targeted imported steel-derivative products, PM Carney says

In case you were wondering, the reasons for the policy are, to prevent steel that was intended for the US but got blocked by Trump from getting dumped at prices that undercut our steel industry.

So, that's a pretty good idea, even if it came from a conservative. But there's more, cuz it is extended to steel finished goods, which prevents steel dumpers from turning it into products to bypass our barrier and still dump their product in our market at prices that undercut our steel industry.

This also makes more room for Canadian steel and steel products inside our borders, which is needed because the US market is no longer a viable customer for our steel.

I'm not seeing a problem with this in the larger context of global over-supply, protecting domestic production of a strategic asset is far from the worst idea to come out of Ottawa. A conservative PM would have done the same, it's not a partisan political issue.

Canada is screwed royally. Carney is a brain dead libtard, a globalist with a one sided vision.
