Top White House economic adviser says Fed should be "fully independent" of political influence

White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett told "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan" that monetary policy, including the Federal Reserve, should be "fully independent" of political influence, including President Trump. Mr. Trump, who has said Hassett is one of his top picks to take over as Fed chairman, fired a Fed board chair and has attacked Fed chairman Jerome Powell.
