Everyone has their own system.

I try to trade as close as possible to Mr. Douglas's theorem. Which is, don't try to predict anything. Simply react to what's there.
Fundamental analysis is a black hole, as can be technical analysis.
For me, price action is the way to go.

Exactly that was my point. At the end trading is about making a profit from buying cheap and selling it expensive or otherwise when you are selling short.

You could do with a longer data set if you can afford it but this actually isn't too bad. I would change your max profit / loss logic to have volatility dependant targets and position sizing. This would help prevent back test overfitting to some degree and also make it more versatile to future market conditions.

I'd also question if this is regime dependant and if so how you can add a regime filter.

These changes may bring you closer to a 1:1 which would be a lot more optimal.

Going with gap-down, targeting 3983 as well, and then further down, 3883.

Also, long $WTI targeting ~$88-$89 area.

We'll see how the week unfolds. Small positions for now.
