I would like to share my experience with a MwIRCT coder/developer I hired for my EA project so that other members can be cautious.
for the last 6 months, I have been working with this developer on modifications and coding for my EA. I paid approximately USD 200 for the agreed work. However, the EA was not completed properly and several important functions did not work as requested.
During the process, I was repeatedly pressured to purchase his products/services and to pay more money before the original work was completed. Communication also became increasingly unprofessional.
My biggest concern is that I shared trading concepts and ideas related to my EA, and the developer later mentioned publicly sharing or using similar ideas on the Forex Factory forum. I consider this to be intellectual property that was shared privately during a paid development arrangement.
I am not writing this post to create drama or attack anyone personally. I simply want to document my experience and warn others not to engage with him or his products,he doesnt give any services or bug fix services .
I hope this matter can still be resolved professionally.please suggest me how can i stop him publishing my intellectual property to others? he is a scammer.

MwIRCT deleted all the Telegram history and removed important evidence related to our discussions and agreements. Fortunately, the payments were made through a friend, so there is still proof of payment and transaction records available.and i have whole history in my phone icloud.He was active in forex factory until i started giveing him the projects and funds,then he started making his own EA using my ideas,he is such an unethical person,no one should give him any ideas.

Unless you have a legal contract or agreement, then whatever you consider to be " shared trading concepts and ideas" as " intellectual property" won't really hold up as a reasonable argument!

Next time, use a coder from MQL5 website; all the rules are explained there, including resolution of disputes.

So, it seems right now, YOYO, or take it to FF admin, but thanks for the heads-up!

...unfortunately FF has no policy against sc(a)umbags, they're happy with any ad revenue. Which makes them scumbags as well.
Don't engage with any commercial user is a rule of thumb!

In that situation, the main protection is usually contract law and secrecy, not intellectual property law itself.
A raw “idea” is often very hard or impossible to protect directly. What the law protects more reliably is:

  1. the specific written expression of the idea,
  2. the source code,
  3. and confidential business information kept secret.

For your trading idea, the standard approach would be:
1. Use an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement)
Before showing the strategy details, have the coder sign an NDA.
The NDA should clearly state that:

  1. your trading logic is confidential,
  2. they cannot share it,
  3. they cannot reuse it,
  4. they cannot publish it,
  5. they cannot use it for their own trading or clients,
  6. and they must delete materials after the project if requested.

This is usually the first and most important layer.
You can think of it as turning your strategy into a legally protected trade secret.
2. Use a “Work for Hire” / IP Assignment Contract
You also want a separate clause (or separate contract) saying:

  1. all code created belongs to you,
  2. all intellectual property rights transfer to you,
  3. the coder retains no ownership,
  4. they cannot resell or redistribute the code.

Without this, in many countries the programmer may automatically retain copyright to the code they wrote.
3. Reveal Only What Is Necessary
A practical protection method:

  1. do not reveal the full system if unnecessary,
  2. split components,
  3. keep critical logic private,
  4. or implement the most sensitive part yourself.

Many trading developers intentionally:

  1. keep execution logic server-side,
  2. or compile the EA without source release.

Because realistically, once someone fully understands a profitable strategy, legal protection becomes harder than technical secrecy.
4. Copyright Does NOT Protect the Core Idea
This surprises many people.
Copyright protects:

  1. your written documents,
  2. diagrams,
  3. code,
  4. explanations.

But not usually:

  1. “buy when X crosses Y,”
  2. “mean reversion after liquidity sweep,”
  3. “martingale grid after volatility spike,” etc.

Another person can independently implement the same concept differently.
5. Patents Are Usually Impractical Here
In theory, some algorithmic or financial methods can be patented in some jurisdictions.
In practice:

  1. expensive,
  2. slow,
  3. difficult internationally,
  4. often rejected,
  5. and publicly disclosed during filing.

Most retail traders avoid this route entirely.
6. Real-World Reality
In trading, the strongest protection is often:

  1. secrecy,
  2. limited disclosure,
  3. trusted developers,
  4. reputation,
  5. compartmentalization,
  6. and keeping the “edge” operationally hidden.

Because if a strategy becomes public and easy to replicate, its edge may disappear anyway.

However, the legal procedures depend mainly on the country of residence of the coder.
What you think is legal or illegal in your country does not have to be the same in the coder's country.
So, you only have yourself to blame for making foolish, ignorant decisions...

I asked about "copyright" many times, particularly about sharing indicators. As you know, all the included default MT indicators, EA's, Scripts have the copyright notice in the code, and these are shared by copy & paste all the time.

I mean, if the coder is intelligent enough, it will be very difficult to prove plagiarism, especially these days when AI can rewrite any code... There really is no way to protect any code. It's just the question if anyone is willing to spend the money to get the code decompiled.
So, the only way would be to patent your ideas, which has the above mentioned downsides, and then go to court with the people who abuse your rights. However, as we know, some cases may be won, others not necessarily...

And also, someone who believes they can get their idea coded under a NDA, with all of the extra caviats, for $200, must be very gullible, uninformed, and living in another reality, not of this world...

To summarize briefly from my point of view:
My code = my property.
Your idea = your idea.
How are you going to protect your idea from being copied or used as an inspiration without keeping it secret from everyone else???
And also, if you need the help of a third party, how are you going to motivate them to keep your secret secret?

So, really no one is here to defend grid/hybrid martingale system? Here is some AI reply after few chats.

A grid itself is NOT inherently bad
A grid is just:
a structured inventory framework.
It becomes dangerous when combined with:

  1. uncontrolled averaging,
  2. exponential sizing,
  3. no regime filter,
  4. no hard risk cap.

A bounded grid can behave very differently.
Example:

  1. fixed max positions,
  2. capped exposure,
  3. volatility scaling,
  4. equity stop,
  5. directional filter,
  6. basket management,
  7. dynamic de-risking.

Then the system is no longer “pure Martingale.”
It becomes:

  1. a controlled mean-reversion or liquidity strategy.

That can absolutely work under certain market conditions.

very well noticed,he started ignoring me and deleted all the chat history,he must be a tanzanian local african,but i am not an African origin.well there are good and bad people all over the world.
i have well noticed that before i gave him work,he was active in forex factory forums and doing coding things for free all the time,the day he started my project,his posts disappeared from here and he started working on his indicators and EAs.Anyways I am thankful to him for whatever he did,he couldnt finish the job,that created this mess.

The purpose of my post is twofold:
1) My son uses an EA which we both developed over time and a user on this thread claimed he was a "Scammer" and that it was for sale and because of that post, he was deemed commercial (in dispute with Admin). It was and never will be for sale and this user BestTraderEv claimed it was for sale and was the EA he posted in his advertisement ... the advertisement was offering a product for sale and the developer is based in Singapore.
That EA has nothing to do with either of us but Forex factory "in their wisdom" deemed that the ill informed trader was correct and without checking anything, incorrectly changed my son to the commercial area.
I am here to prove that the EA is not commercial and will never be for sale.
2) I personally am tired of listening to many so called expert members say "an EA never works" ... and all my son's posts and my recent posts are to prove that given the right dedication and patience an EA can be developed that does work ... nothing more ...

There are just 42 trades, and in some cases it really is possible. You just need to take lots of small profits, and then you’ll have a high success rate. It’s not easy, but that’s how it works.

you are very right,i verbally told him and wrote in our conversation in telegram channel that do not use these ideas anywehre else or sell my work to anyone,i started seeing even name of my EA in his forex factory posts.
next time i must make a written agreement before starting a coding job.thanks for guidance.
