The filtering sensitivity and over-optimization side that is exactly where a lot of systems start to become misleading.

This post is not really about workflow.

The point here is simply to show what is actually available inside StrategyQuant, or better said, what the playground really has to offer when building strategies.
A lot of people only see the final robot after generation, but not the environment behind it.So I’m starting with this part first, because it gives a clearer view of the available structure inside the builder.

In this section, you can choose between:

1. signals
2. indicators
3. order types
4. stop/limit entry blocks
5. exit types
6. custom indicators

So there is a very wide range available, with a lot of freedom and room to explore different combinations.
That is one of the strongest points of the software. The search space is large, and you can make the EA as simple or as complex as you want.

Personally, I prefer simpler.
From my own experience, very complex EAs with too many indicators, signals, filters and conditions are often less robust. There are exceptions, of course, but in general I prefer clean logic over too much complexity.


It is the same principle as manual trading. A clean chart is usually better than an overloaded chart full of noise and distraction. I look at strategy building in a similar way. Simpler is often better. Too much complexity usually means too much noise.
So in this post, I mainly wanted to show the signal blocks together with the order types and exit types, just to give a clear visual idea of what is actually available inside the playground.


Everything that is checked here becomes part of the generation process. In other words, whatever is selected here is what the software is allowed to use while building strategies.
At the moment, in these screenshots, I am using Enter at Market, but I switch between order types regularly depending on what I want to explore.
For exit types, my approach is more fixed.

Stop Loss is standard for me. I do not use robots without a stop loss, not on live and not on demo. Even if there are other exit mechanisms available, stop loss is mandatory for me.
Take Profit is different. That is not always required. In many cases I prefer not to force a fixed take profit, because that gives a strategy more room to follow a move if it is more trend-oriented.

You may also notice that Exit Rule is turned off here. Normally that is often enabled, but in this case I was specifically searching for more trend-following behavior. An exit rule can sometimes take a strategy out of a move too early, so disabling it in some tests can make sense depending on the objective.
So again, the main point of this post is simply to show what the playground has available in terms of signals, rules and building options.
In the next post, I will show more of the indicators and also the stop/limit entry blocks, because that gives an even better picture of how much choice is actually available inside StrategyQuant.

Below you can see the rest of the signals. It’s not everything, but the majority is included here.
EA Studio is also a solid tool for building robots, but I won’t go too deep into that here.
It’s simple and effective. The indicators available there are standard MT4/MT5 indicators, and in terms of stress testing you mainly have Monte Carlo, Walk Forward and Multi Market.

Like I said, EA Studio is powerful, but not really the focus of what I want to show here. StrategyQuant is more complex, which makes it more interesting to experiment with and also more relevant to demonstrate fully.

This is not promotion, and I’m not putting any links here. If someone wants to know what StrategyQuant is, they can just google it themselves. I’m not here to push anyone to use these builders. And to be honest, whether someone uses them or not, or whether they take anything from what I post here or not, it changes nothing for me. My grind stays the same, and my focus stays on my own accounts.

Why I Don’t Sell or Share EAs
Hi everyone,

Just to make this clear , because someone asked if they can test my EAs.

I don’t sell EAs.
I don’t give them away.

One of the main reasons is simple.
I’m not a businessman.

I’m a trader and an algo builder.
I use these tools to build my own systems and run them on my own accounts. That’s it.

One of the biggest reasons is simple.
If a system is actually making money,
why would I sell it to strangers online
instead of scaling it myself across multiple accounts?
That just doesn’t make sense.

A lot of what you see online is different.
People with:

1. websites selling robots
2. paid courses
3. paid Discords
4. “education” packages

That’s business.

Nothing wrong with that, but it’s not the same as trading.

If someone only shows their real workflow after you pay,
then it’s not really about helping.
That’s just a business model.

Same thing in simple terms:
You have people who help others for real.
And you have people who “help” because there is money behind it.
Big difference.

Also about EAs in general.
Most EAs being sold are:

1. grid
2. martingale

They can look good for a while,
but that’s not real trading.
It’s just stacking risk.
At some point, it blows up.
That’s why they sell, not because they actually work long term.

If you want to know more about grid and what actually happens with a lot of EAs being sold, you can check post #8. I go a bit deeper into it there.
But just to keep it simple here:
The robots I build for my broker won’t automatically work the same on another broker.
Even if the brokers are similar, there is still no guarantee.
Execution, spread, data, all of that matters.
So even a system that works on one broker can behave differently somewhere else.


For me it’s simple.
I spent years on this.
Testing, failing, rebuilding, starting over.
It took me around 5 years before I started getting consistent results.

I can explain what I do.
I can show how I build.
I can share what I look for.
I can show the mistakes and where things changed for me.

But the way you think for yourself, the way you read things, the way you stay consistent…
that part you have to develop on your own.

That’s also why I don’t sell anything.
I don’t believe in hiding information behind a paywall.

When I started, this kind of information wasn’t available.
Everything was either incomplete or behind payment.

So for me, it’s simple:
I’d rather just share what I know over time for free,
for the people who are willing to learn and build something themselves.

Even if someone offered a lot of money for my systems, I wouldn’t do it.
I’d rather build my own capital over time.
It takes longer, but it’s real and it’s mine.


The goal of this thread is simple.
I’m just going to drop everything here over time.
How I actually build, how I test, what works, what doesn’t, the mistakes, the lessons.

From idea to reality why MT4 tick-based backtesting is where most strategies break
I see a lot of people building strategies in EA Studio / StrategyQuant and stopping there.

Good curves
Nice metrics
Everything looks clean
And then… live starts and it falls apart.

This guide is about exactly that gap.
Not theory.
Not “click here, click there”.
Just how things actually behave once you leave the generator.

What this guide explains:
• What MT4 is actually testing
• Why tick data matters more than people think
• The difference between bar-based logic and real execution
• Why a strategy that looks perfect can still fail instantly live

Because the market doesn’t move per candle.
It moves per tick.

Inside the guide I go through:
• How Tick Data Suite replaces fake MT4 modelling with real tick flow (bid/ask per tick, spread variation, intrabar movement)
• What the MT4 backtester really simulates:
execution, slippage impact, spread behaviour, order timing — not just “price going up and down”
• The typical problems you only see on tick level:

The key idea is simple:
EA Studio = idea validation
MT4 tick data = reality filter
Generators create strategies.
Tick-based MT4 removes illusions.
This is not an extra step.
This is the step that decides if your strategy deserves capital or not.

If you’re only working inside generators, this will probably change how you look at your results.
If you already use MT4 with tick data, you’ll recognize most of this instantly.

Take from it what you want.
Ignore the rest.

And one last thing, because this is important:
This is still not a guarantee that your robots will survive demo or live.
There is no setting, no test, no hidden trick that can guarantee that.
That simply does not exist.

That’s our job as algo builders.
Build.
Optimize.
Stress test.
Backtest with tick data.

Simulate live conditions as close as possible in MT4.
Then demo.
Then live.
There is no shortcut.

Where most people go wrong is simple:
They don’t have patience.
They want action.
They keep building new robots every week.
Constant rotation.
No time for real validation.

Or they go the other way:
Too much complexity.
Too many parameters.
Trying to make the “perfect” system.
And that’s where most systems break.
Not because they are bad ideas,
but because they are over-optimized and too fragile.
Simple, stable, tested over long data, with real validation
will always beat complex, overfitted systems in the long run.
That’s the part most people don’t want to hear.
But that’s the reality.

EA Studio and StrategyQuant Is Strong - But I Needed More After the Build Phase


This is not only relevant for EA Studio or StrategyQuant users.
It is useful for anyone who uses MetaTrader 4, runs Expert Advisors, works with MT4 statements, and wants deeper visibility into what is actually happening after the build phase.
Also important: the tools I’m talking about here are free to use. There is no payment required to use them.
So whether the robot came from EA Studio, StrategyQuant, another builder, or from somewhere else entirely, the point is the same:
once robots are running, statements start coming in, portfolios get mixed, and systems move into demo or live context, deeper analysis starts to matter a lot.

I wanted to make this topic because over time I noticed something very clearly.

EA Studio and StrategyQuant are very strong for building strategies. That part is obvious.
You can generate, filter, use OOS, run Monte Carlo, export, and move forward fast.

But for me, the issue was never only the build phase.
The real work starts after that.
Because once robots move further into MT4, demo, live accounts, or portfolios, you start needing a different level of visibility.

That is exactly why I started building extra tools around my own workflow.
Not to sell robots.
Not for hype.
Not to make things look polished.

But because I wanted a more practical lab around what happens after the build phase.
A place where I could take real MT4 closed trades and look much deeper into what is really going on structurally.
That was the whole point.

Why I built it
Because in EA Studio you can still see a lot during the build phase.

But once you have:
many robots

multiple accounts

live statements

mixed portfolios

different magic numbers

systems that are already running

then it gets messy fast.

Yes, you can still load robots back into EA Studio.
But there are things I personally wanted to see in a different way.
Not in the depth I wanted.
Not in the structure I wanted.
Not in the form I needed once robots were already trading or once portfolios were already alive.
That gap is exactly why I built these tools for myself in the first place.


What it turned into over time
At this point it is not just a normal trading site anymore.

It became more like an algo lab built around:
validation
breakdown
structural analysis
pressure testing
MT4 statement diagnostics

So not fantasy equity curves.
Not random theory.

Not just “this robot made profit.”
But real closed trades, real statements, and real behavior.

What is inside
Monte Carlo tool
This one matters because it does not just look at surface-level performance.
It takes real closed trades from an MT4 statement and stress tests the structure.

First, it parses the statement itself, so you can already see the original trade sample, profit, payoff, winrate, SQN, streaks, drawdown, and underwater duration before any stress testing even begins.

From there, you can filter by source file, trade group, or symbol + magic, and then choose the Monte Carlo settings directly on the statement side itself.
Things like simulation mode, runs, confidence levels, starting balance, slippage, spread, skip rate, and block size can all be adjusted depending on what kind of pressure you want to test.
Simulation mode also matters here, because each mode stresses the system in a different way.
You can switch between:

1. reshuffle (same trades, different order)
2. resample (rebuilds the path from the trade distribution)
3. skip_trades (randomly removes trades)
4. slippage (adds execution friction)
5. block_bootstrap (keeps local structure but reshuffles segments)

This makes it possible to test not just performance, but how the structure reacts under different types of stress and execution conditions.

After that, the tool shows multiple Monte Carlo equity curves built around the real trade path, so instead of looking at only one final line, you can immediately see how the same structure behaves when order and stress conditions change.

Then it goes further with confidence tables and streak / duration percentiles, so you can see not only whether profit survives, but also what happens to Return/DD, drawdown expansion, losing streaks, recovery pressure, and underwater duration as the path gets stressed.

There are also histograms and period breakdowns, which help show how outcomes are distributed instead of only looking at averages.
That makes it easier to see downside tails, dispersion, distribution shape, and whether the structure remains controlled or starts becoming unstable.

And finally, the monthly / quarterly section helps put the trade behavior into period context, which is important because a system can still look fine on total result while hiding ugly months, weak quarters, or unstable consistency underneath.

So instead of only seeing one result, it helps show things like:
how fragile the path is
how much retention is left under stress
how drawdown expands
how streaks change
how ugly the path can become even if the strategy still survives
That matters a lot because many things look fine until you stress the path.



Strategy Intelligence Report
This is more like a structural scanner, not just a basic metrics page.
It reads the MT4 statement first, then builds a practical intelligence-style summary around what is actually sitting underneath the result.
So instead of only looking at raw profit, profit factor, or winrate, it tries to judge the structure more directly.
At the top, it gives a practical score, profile, and trust verdict, so you immediately get a first structural read on the statement instead of just seeing a few isolated metrics.

Then it breaks the result down into areas like sample quality, edge quality, risk structure, recovery structure, and consistency, which makes it easier to see where the statement is strong and where it is structurally weak.
It also adds profile tags, a short conclusion, and a simple “what stands out most” section, so the result becomes easier to interpret in practical terms instead of just reading numbers with no context.

After that, it goes deeper into a structural snapshot with things like win concentration, month concentration, profitable month ratio, payoff ratio, best and worst month, and then highlights structural flags that deserve caution.
That part matters because many statements can still look acceptable on the surface while hiding pressure points underneath, especially around recovery, streak pressure, underwater time, or uneven dependence on certain periods.

So instead of just seeing profit factor and thinking “ok, looks good,” you get a much better view of what is actually holding the result up.
That is a big difference.
At this point there are also two more tools in the lab: EA Breakdown + Survival.
I’ll leave those for the next post, otherwise this one becomes extremely long.

Why this works well together with EA Studio and StrategyQuant
For me it is simple.
They helps me build.
These extra tools help me judge what happens after that in a deeper way.
So together it becomes much stronger.
Not because this replaces the EA builders.
It does not.
But because it covers things I personally wanted more visibility on once systems were already in MT4, demo, live, or portfolio context.
And again, the same logic also applies to anyone using MT4 and Expert Advisors more seriously, even if the systems did not come from EA Studio.
That is the key point.



What I built here is useful because it gives real structural tools around validation.
And honestly, I built it first because I needed it myself.
That was the real reason.
I built what I wanted to use.
And usually that is the best reason to build anything.


Why I’m sharing this here
Because this is not only useful for me.
Anyone using MT4 and Expert Advisors seriously eventually runs into the same problem:
building is one thing,
but judging what happens after the build phase is another.
That is where this kind of lab becomes useful.
Not to replace the builder.
But to strengthen the decision-making around what happens after generation, filtering, export, and real execution.


So if anyone here also feels that the real work starts after the build phase, then you probably understand exactly what I mean.


I could have kept all of this private and just used it locally.

I have a question and I’m looking for someone who might be able to help.
I’m an MT4 user, and I’ve been building tools for MT4 users who save their history statements and want to upload them for much deeper analysis.

The goal is to push these tools as far as possible toward an institutional-level standard over time.
The tools are already live and usable right now.

At this stage, the current toolset already includes Monte Carlo, the Intelligence Report, the EA Breakdown + Survival Tool, the Equity DNA Analyzer, and the Portfolio Builder.
I explained the first version of Monte Carlo in my previous post, but since then it has already been updated further. I will also share the later updates separately, including what changed, why it changed, and what was improved.

The other tools are also already usable, and all of them will continue to be expanded, deepened, and refined further over time.
These tools are built for anyone using MT4 statements whether the statement comes from manual trading, backtesting, demo trading, live trading, EAs, or portfolios of EAs.

The purpose is simple: to make it possible to test and analyze trading performance for everyone on a much deeper level than what is currently available.
Right now, everything is built around MT4. However, I would also like to add MT5 support.

The issue is that I do not use MT5 myself, so I do not have an MT5 statement to work from for the parser structure and code implementation. Without a real MT5 statement, it is difficult to add proper MT5 support.
Getting one myself would take a lot of extra time and effort, and at the moment I do not have much time for that because I am focused daily on building and improving these tools further.

MT5 statements can be exported as detailed HTML reports, which include full trade history, balance, equity, and statistics.
Depending on your parser, you might also want to look into extracting raw trade data via CSV export for more flexibility.
I don’t have one ready to share right now, but that should give you a good starting point.

I’ve attached a zipped MT4 demo statement as an example so you can see exactly what I mean.
Forex Factory doesn’t support .htm files directly, so I had to upload it as a .zip.
What I’m looking for now is the same type of file, but from an MT5 demo account.
Ideally, it would have:

1. a decent number of trades
2. and preferably multiple EAs with different magic numbers

The goal is simply to understand how MT5 structures its statement export so I can adapt the parser properly and extend the tools for MT5 users.
So if you have something like that available, or if anyone else here is willing to share one, even anonymized, that would help a lot.

The issue is not the export itself.

The reason I’m asking for a real MT5 statement is simply because I don’t use MT5 in my workflow at all.
Everything I build and test runs on MT4, so setting up MT5 from scratch would mean:
– installing and configuring a new platform
– adjusting data / testing environment
– learning the MT5 backtester structure
– converting my robots to MT5 just to generate proper MT5 backtests and statements
– generating enough history to get a usable statement
That’s quite time-consuming, and right now my focus is on continuing to build and expand the existing tools.

Also, if possible, it would be even better if the MT5 statement comes from someone using multiple robots with magic numbers.
The reason is that the tools are not only built to analyze a full portfolio, but also to drill down into individual systems based on magic numbers.

So for development purposes, having even a simple demo MT5 statement would already be enough to map the structure and implement proper parser support.
But a statement with multiple EAs and magic numbers would be even more useful for testing the deeper portfolio and per-robot analysis properly.

If nobody is able to help, then of course I will eventually have to do it myself.
But I’m hoping someone can save me that extra detour with a quick sample statement.

In the end, these tools are free and built to be useful for anyone who wants to test their strategy or portfolio on a much deeper level.
So if anyone is willing to share one, it would help a lot.

I think there’s just a small misunderstanding here.
I’m not looking for a real/live MT5 account.
A demo MT5 statement is completely fine.

The reason I don’t have one myself is simply because I don’t use MT5 in my workflow at all.
Everything I currently build and test is MT4-based.
So generating an MT5 statement myself would mean setting up MT5 from scratch, converting systems, running tests, and creating enough history just to produce a usable statement.

That is exactly what I’m trying to avoid for now, since my time is going into building and improving the tools further.
I’m also actively working on my website, where all of these tools are available for free for deeper institutional-style testing based on MT4 statements.
That is also why I want to add proper MT5 support, so MT5 users can use the same tools as well.
The goal is to make the tools usable for everyone, whether they trade manually or with robots, and whether they want to analyze a full portfolio or drill down into individual systems.

I’m only looking for a demo MT5 statement file so I can understand the structure and extend the parser properly.
So nothing complicated, just a simple demo export would already do the job.

Appreciate the transparency in this thread. Sharing my own experience for context.
I run a custom-built EA on XAUUSD — not EA Studio or StrategyQuant, coded from scratch in MQL5. Seven independent systems running simultaneously: four trend-following (T1–T4) and three counter-trend (R1–R3), each on its own timeframe (M30, H1, H4). No grid, no martingale, hard SL on every trade.
Live account results since January 2026 (Micro account, $2,000 deposit):

 

1. Jan: +8.97%
2. Feb: -0.01%
3. Mar: -3.78%
4. Apr: +29%
5. Total: +32.28% | Max DD: 16.81%

February and March are the part I find most useful to share. Gold was choppy — neither the trend systems nor the reversal systems had clean conditions. Small drawdown, nothing catastrophic. Then April delivered a sustained directional move and the trend systems captured it properly.
The lesson for me was the same one you touched on — the system needs to be left alone to work. Stopping it in March would have meant missing April entirely.
Curious whether your EA Studio systems show similar variance month to month, or do you find the portfolio approach smooths it out more consistently?
Verified third-party data available if anyone wants to compare notes.

To answer your question first: yes, month-to-month variance is completely normal, also with my EA Studio and StrategyQuant systems.
A portfolio can smooth the curve, but it does not remove variance. That is an important distinction. Even with multiple robots running, you can still have weak months, stagnation, drawdown phases, or periods where certain systems simply do not get the right market conditions.

That is why I do not judge robots by one month, or even by a few weeks of behavior. I compare live behavior with what I already know from the full validation stack:

If the live behavior stays within the expected structure, I leave the system alone. If the behavior starts to break away from what was validated, then I reduce trust, lower exposure, pause it, or move it back to demo.

So yes, April can make a system look strong, and March can make the same system look weak. That is exactly why context matters. A strong directional month on XAUUSD can make trend systems perform very well, while a choppy phase can make the same systems stagnate or draw down. That by itself is not a problem. The real question is whether the behavior is still inside the expected range.

The portfolio approach helps because different robots, timeframes, symbols, and logic types can balance each other. But I do not expect a portfolio to be smooth all the time. Smoothness is not the goal. Survival, consistency, controlled drawdown, and structural alignment are the goal.
That is also why I normally do not turn robots off just because they are going through a bad phase. Good months and bad months are part of the process. A robot stays running as long as the live behavior still matches the structure I validated before.

For me, the decision point is not emotion, discomfort, or one weak month. The decision point is structural change. If the live metrics start to differ too much from the historical behavior, demo behavior, and expected ranges for example profit factor, drawdown behavior, winrate, streaks, recovery time, or general equity structure then I know the robot may no longer be behaving like the system I originally validated.
That is when I act.
Until then, I let the robot do its job.

That said, I also want to keep something clear.
I do not mind people sharing robots, systems, results, or examples here if there is something useful behind it. If someone shares structure, testing logic, validation process, mistakes, lessons, or something that others can actually learn from, then that fits the purpose of this thread.
But this thread is not meant to become a place where people drop account screenshots, mention third-party verification, and indirectly point attention toward their own website, brand, robot, or service.

That is exactly what I want to avoid here.
I have said from the start that this thread is not about selling, not about promotion, not about signals, not about robots, and not about pulling people toward some outside offer.

So if you want to share something, no problem. But then please share something structural:
how the systems were built
how they were validated
what the full historical test looks like
how they behave in bad periods
how risk is controlled
what failed before this version
what the deeper process is behind the result
That is valuable.

But just showing a few months of live results and saying third-party verification is available does not really teach people much. It mostly shifts the attention toward the account and the source behind it.
And that is not the goal of this thread.
The goal here is process, validation, workflow, structure, and real lessons from building systems.
Not marketing.
Not account flexing.
Not traffic-building.
Not robot promotion.
