when int rates drops, usd becomes weaker, which in turn drives gold price up. and vice versa. it does have an effect. but whether its very direct, am not very sure.

There absolutely is a correlation with the value of the dollar and GC. I can't recall the analysis I read, but it's probably one of the only single things that you can accurately say has a correlation with gold. That being said, it doesn't mean that every time the value of the dollar drops that gold will increase in value or vice versa.

Really important though is the fed voted unanimously on interest rates. That has no indication of the future, but it does say "with the war and energy crisis, we're all on board to not rock the boat". That could also be an indication for the next meeting.
