Unlike you brain washed bimbo, I studied the 1979 revolution and even wrote a thesis on it.
I will write a brief summary of the early history of the 1979 revolution and what ensued.

1- The shah had a firm grip on his power and with the western equipment and advice had managed to kill or jail his opponents in the years prior to his demise.

2- He had paid off and or well accommodated the mullas with money or mosques or whatever that kept them fat and happy.

3- A couple years before the uprising, he arrested 2 university scholars for the crime of sedition and attempts to overthrow him. He declared that being a fair and transparent ruler, he would hold a televised trial of the pair to prove his point.

4- The trial badly backfired as it turned out that the two had only written poetry books with vague words about things like how the light will overcome the night and other insinuations like that. The people were clearly cheering for these two lovely guys and were
disgusted by the tortures they endured during their detention.

5- The next day, both these men were executed. People were enraged. They started talking about atrocities of the shah's government and his secret police. The flood gate opened. People openly started to criticized the shah.

6- News of sporadic demonstration started pouring in. There were even some clashes between people and Shah's forces coming from random cities. These events became morr and more widespread.

7- The more people were able to talk and scream for freedom, the bigger the movement became and the Shah declared martial law and unleashed his army on the people. At some point shah fled the country and left some of his ministers behind to make mends with the public but it didn't work.

8- A year or more passed and the leader-less uprising continued. People would run away from bullets and take refuge in local mosques (Shah had build one at pretty much every corner for them) Around that time, the name Khomaini was heard for the first time. He declared that hey, I don't like Shah either. At the time him and his buddies were living a comfy life in France. He was apparently sent to exile by the Shah instead of being jailed and killed like others.
The mosques started promoting him to the captive audience populated the otherwise dead and quite buildings mostly used for their washrooms and drinking water. Not long after, the slogans came in that Khomaini is the leader.

9- There were rumors that in several cities, the army chiefs who were ordering the slaughter of the protesters, had inadvertantly killed the members of their own families that were among the protesters. At first the army denied that but one day, the very head if the army confessed that it was all true. Ashamed and disgusted with the killings, he declared that the army will no longer uphold the Shah's government. He said the shah's rule was over.

10- Literally the day after, people stormed the spy agencies of the shah (SAVAK) and killed off whoever was inside. The revolution succeeded.
11- The army chief said that the army is now in control of the country but they weren't trained to run the gov and it's ministries. They asked for public consultation about who should temporarily run the country until proper elections are held.

12- Khomeini and his cohorts flew back to Iran as he declared himself a spiritual leader of some kind.

13- With most of Shah's opposition either killed or just released from jails, the mullas who had hardly suffered from the wrath of shah, responded to the army's request to take over the country's institutions because they were men of god and believed in their Arabic religion and other bs. The army accepted the con men's claim and handed the gov to them. on a silver platter.

14- The mullas immediately populated the top and middle ranks of the gov institutions effectively ceasing full power and control of the country.

15- Many political groups and ideologies rise up from their own ashes and the competition to nominate their members for the president and Parliament began. The elections were held and people overwhelmingly voted for a secuylsr, well educated and well connected man who had been actively opposing shah's regime all his life but...

15- The mullas, rejected by the public anf deemed unworthy to run the country due to their know archaic beliefs in their religion, did not want to have any of that. They went on strike and shut down the gov that they had been entrusted with. The death threats came in and the popularly elected president went into hiding and eventually fled the county.

15- The mullas, now in firm control of the elections, declared that they were going to form a committee to vet all candidates and choose only the ones that adhered to their islamic rules. From there on, only their own chosen candidates could run for elections and everyone else was excluded.

There is more of course but that is how they stole the revolution and how they have been able to hold onto power ever since.

Guys, it's Dr Bjorn here again.
Ok, i confess I have to take at least some of the blame for Frena's recent behaviour.
We took him off double meds on Sunday night and I was so optimistic. Unfortunately, just like my hobby trading, things don't always workd out the way you hope.
Monday morning Ferna got up very early before the support staff arrived. He took us all by surprise and made a beeline for the ward windows. The Mental Institution here overlooks a primary school. Yup, you guess it. He flashed his sausage and meatballs at some of the kids arriving for school.
As you may recall, he's done this on TWO occasions already this year and this THIRD STRIKE really is the final straw. He's back in the padded cell and the car battery leads have been attached to his meatballs. Sadly, he appears to be enjoying this treatment. I really am at the end of my tether. I'm completely out of ideas now
