It's pretty simple. Republicans saw the level of voting power in the demographic of the most easily manipulated people in the country. They found a populist character who is willing to say pretty much anything to push the buttons on those people, and they gave that character massive support. It worked, he became President.

We need to stop blaming JUST the Republicans for not having a viable, reasonable candidate.....the Democrats should have been able to win this thing EASILY. Trump's approval rating was 34% when he left office his first term. That is ridiculously low. The campaign was simply mismanaged and the result is what we see today. Having two viable contenders would have yielded a much more balanced contest and, possibly (possibly because know one can know for sure....but we can certainly assume), less volatility caused by presidential tweeting.

.....the markets today were ready to accept the weekend news. All he had to do was wait till tomorrow night to say whatever he wanted in his nationally televised speech. Sure the /es was bumping into daily MAs, but the downturn started EXACTLY because of the first morning tweet....and was exacerbated by the second. It's 2025 all over again.

.....now we just suffer another 45 days until we get the "it's a good time to buy stocks" tweet....

WELL, looking forward, it's hard to see Trump ceding control. So he will try to rig or even suspend elections, and/or will try to run in 2028. If he finds he has to bless another candidate for 2028, I have my doubts about JDV - I think Trump would rather get behind Marco. So it'll probably be Marco vs Gavin. Which will be interesting.

Your communicate info is about as bad as Trump's. Gold is rallying significantly off the increased tariff chatter and even moreso off of the morning tweets. I don't even know what could occur for it to fall to those levels in 2 weeks. Maybe if China or the US liquidated their respective stockpiles? Outside of that .....

I agree with you regarding him backing someone. IMO, zero chance Trump runs in 2028. Even IF he would/could simply disregard the constitutional restrictions.

I don't care how much confidence people have in him/"want" him to run...the job takes a toll. He isn't 40 years old. Every day, at his age, is more and more tiring. Biology catches up with everyone and 3 more years is a LONG time as president. I think those who don't watch him speak very often will start to see that tomorrow night. They guy certainly has energy, you can't dispute that, but time governs us all...

Works until it doesn't....but long metals has been working for quite some time now. Heck, it's even better than long equities over the past decade....can't fault anyone for going all in on that. Though, entering at these levels does worry me a little. I still think both gold and, in particular, silver, got ahead of themselves by about 12 months.

Dems don't believe in democracy; it's why they have superdelegates; the party elites don't believe the people can pick a winning candidate. But stealing the primary from Bernie to install Biden led to where we are today. It would have been far better if Trump had won against Biden in 2020 then he wouldn't be doing the damage he is now, and he would be gone now. But voters in 2020 couldn't see one move ahead that rewarding Biden for stealing the primary by giving him the presidency would just about guarantee a return of a far worse Trump. Rage-voting for Biden in 2020 was pretty much a vote for Trump in 2024.

Even AOC pointed that out in 2020 on a podcast that if they just try to beat Trump without addressing the underlying reasons why Trump was elected, then we will get a far worse Trump in the future. Here we are.

He really can't take a loss in grace. Nor can he read and interpret the ruling, apparently. Constitution gives Congress the power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises and regulate commerce with foreign nations... The power to impose tariffs originates in Congress. The president can impose tariffs ONLY if Congress has clearly delegated that authority. The power resides in Congress... I think his posts only show to prove he doesn't have this authority, but... how many of his following voters actually know and just believe him?

There is reason to suspect he cheated the election lol. Don't get me wrong the democrats are throwing the elections seemingly intentionally (remember that nancy pelosi made more money during trumps first term than any other term during her career). Are we really going to expect someone who rapes and eats children to play fair in an election especially when there is evidence of him doing otherwise?

You do a license to get a fee! The opinion doesn’t explain that, but I know the answer! The court has also approved all other Tariffs, of which there are many, and they can all be used in a much more powerful and obnoxious way, with legal certainty, than the Tariffs as initially used. Our incompetent supreme court did a great job for the wrong people, and for that they should be ashamed of themselves (but not the Great Three!). The next thing you know they will rule in favor of China and others, who are making an absolute fortune on Birthright Citizenship, by saying the 14th Amendment was NOT written to take care of the “babies of slaves,” which it was as proven by the EXACT TIMING of its construction, filing, and ratification, which perfectly coincided with the END OF THE CIVIL WAR. How much better can you do than that? But this supreme court will find a way to come to the wrong conclusion, one that again will make China, and various other Nations, happy and rich.
