I find these (mostly) TDS comments totally entertaining coming from the the not so great state of Alabama (long story) but I have a nice all brick house built in the 1960's, gutted 12 years ago after a tornado with all an new interior that's more like a bomb shelter with a huge yard and and only two neighbors far enough away I can take a leak in my backyard and it is very affordable. I think it's for the same reason that the pirates loved and obeyed their Capitan despite his cruelty.
They felt that the Capitan's disrespect and harsh mannerism was mostly intended towards the others outside the ship. It targeted the weak victims who had valuable goods.
