    President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for “immediate negotiations” with Denmark to “discuss the acquisition of Greenland by the United States.” But Trump, in an address to world leaders and others at the World Economic Forum, said for the first time that he would not use military force in pursuit of the territory. “I won’t do that,” Trump said during the lengthy speech in Davos, Switzerland. “Now everyone’s saying, ‘Oh, good,’” he quipped. “People thought I would use force. He did well to calm markets by saying "I won't use force". The room chuckled at his comments. The rest of the speech, aggrandizing himself and deriding the rest of the nations, was fairly embarrassing, but nothing out of the ordinary for Trump. I do wonder how anyone in that room can stay silent or look the man in the face afterward.

What's funny is that I suspect many of the world's smaller-country dictators are similar in nature...but they don't carry the weight of the US economy/military with them, so leaders tell those individuals to shut the heck up and get out of my space. Can't do that with Trump. He knows it. He uses it.

Prediction: some ultimate agreement for perpetual land use in Greenland for his golden dome (with EU paying a portion via trade agreements, etc). I am becoming more and more convinced that he wants this as part of ego/legacy. "I added the largest land area of any president in history" (don't worry that 99% of it is unhabitable).

Here's hoping the markets calm down a bit now and close the gap from the weekend.....that goes for you, too, metals!

Why write this?

What is the significance to you of “closing a gap”… statistically speaking? The chances of it not happening ever are very low. The chances of you being ruined before they close is a different question. Talk me through the maths you use to discern the two.

The first negotiation ended in fundamental disagreement, so there is no hope this time too. Also he cannot use military options as his generals declined to take any action on Greenland.
