Nope it is exactly flight from currencies. USD's share as a reserve currency dropped to 56.9% according to IMF, lowest since 1994. Everyone including banks and governments are trying to get rid of the cash, they don't invest much in the equities market either since the risk of a recession is high. That's where precious metals shine. They are safe havens, the value goes up whenever a geopolitic or economic uncertainty arise incontrast to the stock market and crypto market. Which are risky assets.

And regarding to crypto currencies, they are not only at the risk of a recession or a geopolitical crisis. There's another risk: quantum computing. Co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin already warned that quantum computing might be able break cryptography by 2030. So investing in digital currencies and assets are probably one of the riskiest things one can do right now.
