A tariff is a tax. Trump has enacted the largest tax increase in decades. The tariffs are essentially a sales tax, levied on any buyers of foreign goods. There are carve-outs here and there for certain things, but overall, we now have a national sales tax on all foreign goods. If he had marketed it as such, he might have had problems selling it to the anti-tax GOP. But, Trump keeps falsely claiming that foreign producers are paying the tariffs. He keeps bragging about the revenue that is "pouring into the country." Another lie. Of course, if you raise taxes there will be increased revenue accordingly. Duh. The revenue is coming from the sales tax on foreign goods and is only being paid by American importers, businesses, and consumers. No foreign producers are lowering their prices on their exported goods. Some foreign governments are making promises about increased investments in US manufacturing. In the time it takes for any of these promises to materialize (5-10 years), Donald Trump probably will be dead, MAGA will be history, and what's left of the GOP will be deciding on whether or not massive tariffs are a good idea. How do you think that will work out?

He also is using the tariff income to give tax credits to the richest 10% in order to keep them happy.

Who pays the tariffs? So, the POTUS is using tariffs and/or the threats of tariffs to retaliate for any perceived slight? Maybe he should tariff the wind for making those ugly windmills turn?

As an educated person, first you should know that US became a super power not through tariff policy but the free trade market, 2nd, to know something or anything about US as you says doesn't have to American too, right...
The problem with him is not just he has turned the tariff as revenue tools but also he uses it as weaponizing tool too, against all the countries not to mention the lie he says that foreign countries are paying the tariff.

Most businesses' that have been keeping their prices lower to help cover tariffs for importers to the US are going to stop soon as they have found new markets all over the world to sell too. The advantage of shipping goods to the US from Canada is no longer sustainable so America will no longer receive goods from Canada.
I doubt they will find a cheaper alternative.

Everyone has some brain trust insight and opinion that what Trump has done for America is "stupid', is not done under his own leadership, or is only by mistake or that it will all fall down in a matter of a few months. You guys do not know when to shut your mouth and realize all the TDS media sources will never be happy with anything this guy does. Meanwhile his administration has accomplished more good for Americans than any administration has since....who knows when.
