i tried messing around with the EMA on IG with 5 or 6 damn thing keeps reverting back to the default, for the brief time i got it work the bands give decent indicators!

Realistic target for beginners would be 2-5% monthly with proper risk management. Dont rush for big numbers, consistency and low drawdown matter more in the long run.
By the way dont stress too much about percentages early on. just focus on surviving the market first. If you can earn 2-5% a month with solid risk control you are already doing better than most. Consistency and Patience beats big profits every time.

I'm looking at it too, put nearly two pages of waffle into that thread I'm working on, and looking at supertrend and ema - sometimes simple is best

feels a little risky but took a sell, i will close small profit if able (15 min chart)

to all those that responded thanks a lot, i appreciate you passing on your wisdom. my capital isn't huge towards 1k and my risk management is 0.5%-1% per trade, i am on mt5 so i think all trades are naturally leveraged on gold (correct me if wrong?), and I honestly am just looking for a 1:1 rr with a win rate > 50%.

do you guys think this is too much to ask for especially as a new trader, because everything i see/hear/read wrt to trading by all these gurus -- they make it sound like losing and not being profitable when you first begin is inevitable?

I usually trade /scalp on the band boundaries useful for quick minimal profit. But for larger it’s simply following the tend line
