25 years ago when many of you were still babies there was an explosion of online and casino poker playing... all those guys went into trading when the US government cracked down on them

but in the meantime they gave interviews and wrote books how they handled the toll poker playing took on their emotions....go find those interviews

you could prolly still find old broadcasts of all those tournaments on tv

I said to you before, trust in your setup, but work on invalidation points or even points of no return. Accept that market don't go in a straigth line always,
I left my two trades today and how i control my emotion by understanding what invalidates the setup.
First one 4H, anew open pattern that i am testing and the second Ny time window..
One play well and almost straight line, the other not so good, but i understand why, it had reached friday Ny extended, i accept the pulback.
and people can scream that we will be bullish, that i don't close this trade. Ny doesn't rotate so far.
Accept pullbacks, but you have to find out how long inside of your setup.
A setup is not only stop loss and target.

M5 — What I’m seeing (and why I’m already short)
Every push up gets sold back down under my yellow box.
Lower highs, every bounce slapped instantly.
4015–4020 got rejected clean that was the buyers’ last real attempt.
M30 — Line in the sand
4015 is the reclaim or die level for buyers on M30. They HAD to take it back.
They tried to bounce into it and got crushed before even touching it.
Now we’re printing lower highs under 4015 and even 4005.
MAs pointing down, price under them, pullbacks tag → dump.
That’s bearish flow. No reclaim = bears drive.
How I’m playing it (do this clean, no ego):
1) Pay yourself once now
I close one line fully. That’s my payslip, oxygen, dopamine reset.
When I’m already paid, I stop trading from fear/greed.
Psychology > technique. I don’t exit the idea I book one win to keep my head cold.
2) Let the rest breathe into target zones
First target ~3980, then that 3970s/3960s liquidity cluster.
That’s where shorts cash and buyers try a last defense.
I keep one runner alive into that area. No micromanaging as long as we’re below ~4005/4010.
3) Risk guard (panic line updated)
Old fear: “above 4004 I’m out.”
New reality: buyers failed the reclaim. Market validated the short.
My mental line is lower now:
As long as we’re below ~4005/4010, I hold.
If we get a real impulsive shove back into 4008/4010, I reassess not before.
The only two ways you blow this:

  1. Greed: you let green turn back to red because you “want a little more.”
  2. All-out exit: you close everything at once and don’t let the market pay you for being right.

I’m not here to hope. I’m here to execute:

  1. I’m paid on one line.
  2. I let the rest run into 3980 → 3970s/3960s.
  3. I stay calm while we trade under 4005/4010.
  4. If we reclaim with force, I adapt. Until then, bears hold the wheel.

Rounded D pinpoint for today:
3946 _3950 as target
3912_3917 for extension low.

4010_4014 for pulback
4048_50 as reversal pinpoint

3950 key point for reverse or continue...

Indi : H4 bear confirm....but strong Reversal keep intact ( not yet full bearish confirm)
M30/H1 bear full horse power confirm at Monday NY session...expected loose steam this asia session. ....pulback expected..

Behavioral market: 4000 level act like there but isnt....in and out like Hell...will be easy to break for both side in the next future time.

Just mapping.

It takes guts to speak out like this and ask for help, its not weakness, you have shown real strength, to step away from the crowd and ask for help.

This I have had experience with, I'm trying to build a thread that specifically targets psychology. It's a difficult subject to approach because they're isn't anything that can be said that will immediately 'fix' it for you.

It's difficult but is possible, the thread so far hasn't addressed fear but I will be approaching and tackling the subject this weekend. My fear/hesitancy started from a bad run of results, trading with money I couldn't afford to lose and then a crescendo from a death from a thousand cuts.

It took nearly a year to get out, and I still have the scars at times.

You have a few options.

1. Go to really small quantities, use a strategy with high win rate and build confidence back, you need a symbol - chart that is is easy to read, keep at 1hr.

(Demo is not good for this because there is no fear)

2. Place trades and turn the phone or computer off but this won't help in this case, if you cant place a trade.

3. Play a game - every morning you place a trade buy / sell randomly, very small quantities you can afford to lose - do this for a week. If you are really having a bad moment, this will outperform you.

4. Turn trading into game. Zero a demo account at the start of every week, you have no trading rules, no money management rules and you try and beat your previous weeks score and highest score. The no rules actually enforces rules on yourself subconsciously, won't help with fear but it will help you realise the importance of the game. I still do this every week.

What the crowd sees vs what you actually feel
What the crowd sees:
Weeks of bullish trend.
Every pullback got bought → new highs again.
In their heads:
Gold only goes up.
Buy the dip.
Trend is bullish just wait for 4200+.
They still live in cartoon logic:
Trend up = must buy
Retrace = discount
Short = against the trend → stupid
They’re stuck mentally in September.
Not in today’s market.
What you see:
Look left that whole leg up took almost a month.
Clean structure, healthy pullbacks, buyers in control.
Look right this drop wasn’t a pullback.
It was a liquidation wave.
Five, six straight red days, panic volume, liquidity gaps everywhere.
Bears erased in one week what bulls built in thirty days.
That’s a control shift.
Technically we’re still high, but the energy is no longer bullish.
This is distribution, not “a dip to buy.
That’s institutional vision.
Why trend is your friend becomes your trap
“Trend is your friend… until it’s not.
Retail sees a broken trend way too late.
They only check: Are we higher than last month?
Professionals don’t look where price is they look how price moves.
Bullish behavior = slow, controlled climbs, sellers absorbed quickly.
Bearish behavior = violent dumps, bounces sold instantly, momentum top-down.
What you’re seeing now on M30:

  1. Dumps have power
  2. Pullbacks are weak
  3. Old supports (4168 / 4158 / 4120 / 4084 / 4015 / 3985) flipped into resistance

That’s how a bull market dies
not in one candle, but in structure.
Bottom line:
Retail still hopes.
You already feel the shift.
And whoever feels the shift before it’s visible
is already trading on the side of power not the crowd.

Unless you have ideal traits to begin with, I would put the order as:

AAA+++ tier : Psychology
B: Money management
C: Technicals
D: Fundamentals

And yet we never discuss it?

Well i reduce my exposure in my sell, the Ny breakout price was rejected twice after mitigate supply, three tests failed already is enough for me to don't fight.
However the rest stay set and forget to 3927.
If i see a rotation, i shift with them.

Obvious daily bear....look like easy to tap monthly open 3850 if that range happen every day....

So ...i stick to H4 for map of day trading....my H4 indi say bear but with the caution of potential reversal/ pulback oh H4.

Then M30/H1 for direction and m15 for execution....

Either strong pulback/ reversal or strong deep continuation.

Tuesday will be the key too

Ny sessions rotation also aligh with 50% Monday...
I think they will seek that first or already had happen the breakout.
Relative to shift my level still is 4023.15 so nothing change for now, but the signs are not good

Price still move torward lower, we got a nice target yesterday, it could be skip for later or much even later until there is a big buy enough to stop this sell momentum. Crucial level at 4008 and 3950-3958 (which also a huge liquidity target, can trigger a buy right after this level being sweep). If price show some push from 4008 then here we go again the high (possible 4050 intraday could be much more at 422x after second test), else price keep going downward. If it going sideway in this area, not reaching 3958, there is a possible scenario about liquidity sweep at news of FEDs then move up. Currently got a attempt buy of H1 but price doesnt close above crucial level of 4008 then nothing to worry about sell entry yet (Touched D1 pivot but no break yet => still stay in sell side, but this provide seller start grow weak below 4008) (Only case is price of H4 close above then small test appear).

Hello fellow low-drama XAUUSD traders.
I appreciate everything said by all here, thanks for your insights.

My personal trading plan - 3 positions for every leg on the 5 minute, 30 minute, and the 1 hour.
TP calculated by ATR based on average of last 20 candles in that time frame.
TP1 0.75 ATR, TP2 1.5 ATR, third position is runner, add in if TP1 is cleared, stop moved to breakeven after TP1 and then to TP1 after TP2 is hit.
Ideally adding on every candle if momentum is clear.
Hold until the end of the leg.
SL at the start of the leg.

This worked well for last leg H1 4130->3980 on H1, watching the PSAR 2/20.

I've tried to avoid getting biased even by reading this thread or any other news/opinions.
The chart says it all. Never get biased.

Reversals come, dont trade them - watch for the 5->15->1hr leg transitions, don't trade countertrend, only add in to the momentum.

Thoughts on that?
