I heard some crazy souls use one second chart...... Can this doable?

One second chart trading

Trading on a one-second chart is a type of scalping strategy that uses extremely short time frames to make rapid buy and sell decisions. This high-precision approach is possible with certain premium trading platforms, but it requires significant discipline, a solid trading plan, and is typically used for highly liquid assets.
How one-second charts are used for trading

  1. Best for scalpers: This strategy is exclusively used by "super scalpers" who execute numerous trades throughout the day to profit from small price movements.
  2. Better entry/exit points: The granular data on a one-second chart allows traders to act faster and time their orders more accurately, potentially securing better entry and exit points.
  3. More trading opportunities: Since a single trading day contains thousands of seconds, this level of granularity provides many opportunities for identifying trends and patterns that are missed on longer time frames.
  4. Market microstructure analysis: Platforms with advanced features allow traders to see real-time absorption and identify hidden buying or selling pressure at important price levels.
  5. Requires advanced tools: Not all trading platforms support one-second charts. Access to this level of detail is often a premium feature on platforms like TradingView, GoCharting, and Interactive Brokers.

Risks and considerations

  1. High stress and discipline: The rapid pace of one-second chart trading is stressful and requires robust risk management and immense discipline.
  2. High costs and lower profitability: With numerous trades executed, the cost of spreads can quickly add up, and a small number of losing trades can erase profits due to the small gains per trade.
  3. Noise and false moves: The shorter the time frame, the more "noise" or false signals are present. Longer time frames are generally more reliable for identifying primary trends, which is why some traders use a multi-time frame approach.

I am interested in purchasing the license of real JMA. It seems Sierra Chart is one of the platforms supported. SC is ok although I am not really familiar with it. I used to use SC years ago. The cost is very cheap. I sent an email to them. Let me see if they still can sell it to me....

I am testing 1, 2, 3, 4, ..... seconds charts with MAs for fun if it can help improve my PA reading skill... Of course, nothing can beat PA reading. PA is the fastest.

I have had some quick scalp trades today in early Asian session and Europe session. First two trades moved so fast that I couldn't exit timely and took only some crumbles. These trades were made mainly by 1, 2, 3 and 4 seconds charts based on 1M PA reading. So far so good.... I will continue trading into the NY session for testing.

Actually I had one more trade since then but I accidentally traded using my Demo account.... When I restart MW, it reverts back to Demo account by default. I set it so for safety measure. When you watch it from a micro level such as 1 or 2 seconds charts, you can clearly see a trend on my entries. If you have a PA reading skill like Senja or Steve, you don't need it of course. If not, it may or may not be useful. The drawback is heavy CPU consumption of your PC.

This is where Steve entered his short trading today and made 100 pips. I found his recent successful tradings started from MA contractions on major TFs into the trend direction..... Coincidence?

My recent observation is for example if you trade based on 1H chart targeting one or two bars, watching current and higher TF MAs for trend is pointless except 50 and 200 EMA S/R. After you found a decent 1H PA reading you should go far down till 1 or 5M to read MA trend. That's my theory.

Hi Justin,
Moving Averages simply show, in Hindsight, how Price has already Moved.
Price will Contract, either Accumulating or Distributing Orders before making it's move
We need to be able to Interpret Price Intent as it HAPPENS to be on the Right Side of a Price Move
We will never get it right all the time, of course, but with a good Combination of Risk to Reward, Win Rate and Expectancy we can put the Odds in our Favour.
Trading is a Numers Game it's the Results from Hundreds and Thousands of Trades that gives us our Edge over an Extended Period of Time.
It was only by having a Shift in Mind Set, to Long Term Thinking, that moved Results even more in my FAVOUR

A quick trade before I go to bed. I was busy setting up chart auto refresher. I started to use normal sized gold as I have some confidence now.

Spread and slippage is quite high, especially during the Asian session. 5 -7 ticks of spread is normal during Asian session. It's still 3 ticks now. It's another challenge to scalpers.....
